Jean Hailes For Women’s Health
COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING TOOLKIT
2
For more than 25 years, the national not-for-profit organisation Jean Hailes for Women’s Health has been dedicated to improving the knowledge of women’s health, for women and the health professionals who care for them, as well as providing a trusted world-class health service for women.
OUR PURPOSE
To improve the physical and emotional health and wellbeing of women and girls throughout their lives.
WHAT WE DO
We combine research, clinical care and practical education for women and health professionals. We translate and distribute evidence-based women’s health information into easy-to-understand resources that are delivered in multiple ways (booklets, pamphlets, magazines, consultation tools and monthly e-newsletters) to suit diverse audiences.
ABOUT JEAN HAILES FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH
Why we need your supportWhile we do receive some government funding, it doesn’t meet the costs of all we want to achieve, or help us reach all the women we want to. We want to help and reach more women and girls in more communities, especially those identified as priority groups in the Australian Government’s ‘National Women’s Health Strategy 2020-2030’. They include those living in rural and remote areas, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls, culturally and linguistically diverse women and girls, women and girls living with disability and members of LBTI communities.

HOSTING A FUNDRAISER
Whatever you choose to do, you will be helping us reach more women and girls in Australia, allowing us to provide them with vital health resources and tools.
AT WORK
Make use of your lunch or morning tea break. This is a great opportunity to hold a bakesale, run a silent auction, or train for a marathon with your work colleagues.
WITHIN YOUR COMMUNITY
Have fun with your family, friends, school or support groups. Turn a fun movie night, trivia night, bakesale or a dinner at your place into an event that will support women’s health.
AS AN INDIVIDUAL
Want to take on a running or active challenge on your own? We’re here to support you.
Five steps to fundraising1. GET PERMISSION
If it is a workplace event, seek approval from your manager and register your event with Jean Hailes. Fill out the online form and a Jean Hailes team member will review your application. Once approved, we will provide you with an ‘Authority to fundraise’ letter. We can also supply you with a few tools to support your fundraising activity.
Use our free resources including:
• the ‘Proudly Supporting Jean Hailes’ logo
• editable Jean Hailes-branded posters
• social media tiles with suggested copy to share with your networks
• ‘authority to fundraise’ letter
• fundraising tips.
2. DOUBLE YOUR DONATIONS
You could invite your employer to ‘dollar match’. This means that when you reach your final donation tally, your employer matches it, doubling what you raise and, in turn, doubling your positive impact on women’s health.
Use this to encourage more support and increase the amount they match. We can give you a template letter to seek support from your employer.
3. SPREAD THE WORD
Social media is your friend. Spread the word on social media and tag @jeanhailes so we can also share yours posts through our networks when possible. Use Facebook to create an event, or ask your employer to use their social media page to create the event to get more people attending and supporting your fundraiser. Remind your supporters and attendees about the event a few days in advance. Invite people via email, LinkedIn posts, and other social media channels.
4. SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION
Thanking your donors is just as important as asking. This could be as simple as sending them a thank-you email, or you can get in touch with us if you’d like us to send you an editable certificate of appreciation.
5. CLOSE THE LOOP
Tell your supporters and donors how your event went. Please let us know too – send us photos and updates. We are always proud of our supporters and love to spread the word far and wide about their efforts to help us!

FUNDRAISING TIPS
PERSONALISE YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE
Creating your own fundraising page is an
easy way to direct all your donations to one spot and
instantly see your fundraising tally grow. This also means you can thank your donors
directly with thank-you messages. Your donors
will be receipted instantly.
Add a photo to your fundraising page, edit the story and make it your own – tell your supporters why you chose to fundraise for
Jean Hailes.
SELF-DONATE
Kick-start your fundraising by making a donation
yourself. It’s a great way to encourage your family and
friends to donate. Don’t forget to remind them that donations over $2 are tax
deductible too!
SET YOURSELF A FUNDRAISING GOAL
AND AIM HIGH
If you hit your target, change your goal and aim higher. You will be surprised how
many of your supporters will want to help you reach your
fundraising target.
SEND A REMINDER
People lead busy lives and may often get asked for donations by various organisations during the
year. Make yours stand out. Remind your supporters to donate closer to your
fundraising event and explain why this fundraising activity is important to you.
SAY THANKS
This is the most important step of a successful fundraising activity.
Thank your supporters, cheerleaders, motivators and
morale boosters. They all played a big part in helping you reach your goal. You can
either thank them as they donate on your page, email
them, or thank them in person.
