Statement of Intent
Jumeirah International will ensure safe operation of boilers for the protection of workmen from potential work accidents at all Jumeirah Hotel sites by ensuring that the boilers are properly maintained, tested and recorded as per the UAE regulations.

All Jumeirah International (JI) hotels in the UAE
The Director of Engineering, the Chief Engineer and the Resident Engineers at each site/project are responsible for ensuring that this policy is reflected in supporting procedures, processes and documents and is applied by colleagues, and subordinates within their areas of control.

5.0Policy
5.1 The Engineer Responsible will ensure that the Boiler Attendant will provide a maintenance service which will comprise of:
5.1.1Daily routine maintenance of boilers in the plant rooms.
5.1.2Reactive maintenance to rectify any problems due to equipment failure or malfunction.
5.1.3Planned preventative maintenance as per the scheduled maintenance plan and the manufacturers recommendations.
5.2The inspection of boilers shall be made at the time of installation and at regular intervals of 12 months thereafter. It is essential that inspections should be thorough and complete.
5.2.1Only a technically qualified and experienced person who has been approved as competent to examine and test boilers by the Environmental Protection and Safety Section at the local municipality shall examine and test the equipment.
5.2.2 Before the boiler is entered for inspection, the Resident Engineer shall determine that the boiler may be safely entered by ensuring adequate ventilation inside the boiler and it is free of harmful vapours/gases.
5.2.3 Repairs: All repairs should be carried out under the supervision of competent person to ensure the safe operation of boilers.
5.2.4 Certification by Competent Person: The safety certification shall be done by the competent person on satisfactory completion of tests and examination of boilers.
5.2.5 The test certificate shall indicate the repairs/alternations/re-rating of working pressure etc. made to the boilers.
5.2.6 In the condition of a boiler is unsafe for operation, the competent person shall direct the Resident Engineer to remove it from service and send a report to the local municipality.
5.2.7 The test certificate shall be made available in the workplace and a copy sent to the Environmental Protection and Safety Section at the local municipality.
