Four generation farming operationAs Lyndon Tratch surveyed the fl urry of harvesting activity over his wheat fi eld northwest of Canora, it dawned on him that there were four generations ofTratch family members on all that equipment. His son Shadd was operating the swather, his son Shale was operating one combine and his son Wayne wasoperating the other. His fourth son Shane was operating one of the trucks. His father Walter Tratch, who is 87 years old, came along for ride in the truck. The youngest harvester was Aidyn (Shadd’s son) who at a year-and-a-half, also took an occasional ride out to the fi eld. Also helping the Tratch family truck theirbumper crop was Jim Vewchar of Canora. Lyndon said he tried combining a small piece of land a couple of days earlier, but on September 7, the push was on because poor weather had been forecasted for the next few days. Both combines were barely able to keep up to the one swather in harvesting the wheat whichwas running from 75 to 80 bushels per acre.
