GRADE 5 NEWS
This week my students were introduced to the new Reading
Skill– Problem and Solution “Creating a Nation” .
We completed Chapter 4 in Bud not Buddy along with the
notes, I introduced the students to the concept of eliminating
the un-necessary notes and working on tackling the important
notes of chapter 4. I also assigned a Chapter 3-4 Revision Pack
that was due within the week.
The students tackled extra Graded Classwork pages on mean-
ing using the context clues strategies they were previously
taught.
Please take a closer look on the Weekend Pack - it is struc-
tured differently, with assigned pages from the Practice Book.
Next, We will also continue our journey of Bud not Buddy
Chapter 5 .

Dear Parents,
It was a pleasure to see you last week in the Open House! I also
hope you’re all enjoying another long weekend.
Last week, we finished the grammar lesson “Nouns”. Students were
able to differentiate between ‘Common & Proper Nouns, and ‘Concrete
and Abstract Nouns’. Also, we took a new spelling lesson which is R-
Controlled Vowels—UR.
Next week, is going to be writing week! I hope you’re all as excited
as I am! Also, please encourage the students to be as creative as they
want in their weekly journal assignment t.

Dear parents and students,
This week the students were introduced to the vocabulary words for the lesson ‘Early Herders and Farmers’.
We evaluated the changes that occurred in the food supply of early peo-ple.
We analyzed the effects of the shift from food colleting to food produc-ing.
Students had the first quiz of the term.
For the week ahead, we will identify plants and animals that early people domesticated.
Students will also be introduced to the vocabulary words for the lesson ‘Early Settlements and Cities.

card on scratch and send t by mail. Design a printable card on Ms Pub-
lisher.

The students will use scratch codes to create a shot story to send it by
