 Executive  Brief:    ServiceMesh  Agility  Platform

What  is  the  Agility  Platform?

The   Agility   Platform   is   an   enterprise-‐grade   cloud   management  platform  for  implementing  DevOps  and  on-‐demand,  self-‐service  IT  operating   models   within   large   enterprises.   Customers   select   the  Agility  Platform  to  automate  the  deployment  and  management  of  enterprise   applications   and   platforms   across   private,   public   and  hybrid   clouds.   The   Agility   Platform   provides   a   single,   integrated  control   point   for   governance,   compliance   and   security   across   the  customer’s   cloud   applications   and   environments,   empowering  development  teams  with  fully  governed,  self-‐service  access  to  the  applications,   platforms,   and   services   they   need.   This   enables  central   IT   to   transform   its   role   into  a  hybrid  cloud  service  broker,  and   allows  development   and   IT   operations   teams   to   increase   the  speed   and   frequency   of   software   releases  without   sacrificing   the  quality  of  software  in  production.

How  do  customers  use  the  Agility  Platform?

The  Agility  Platform  allows  IT  to  meet  increasing  demands  to  bring  new  business  functionality  to  market  faster,  as  well   as   provide   on-‐demand   access   to   globally   competitive   IT   services   based   on   cost,   features,   and   service  levels.     Agility   Platform   allows   IT   to   deliver   portfolios   of   on-‐demand   IT   services   directly   to   the   business   and  application  teams  with  a  fully  governed  and  automated  self-‐service  model  that  minimizes  or  eliminates  manual  IT  approvals  and  delays.  This  includes  enabling  DevOps  initiatives  through  delivery  of  on-‐demand  development  platforms,   embedding   standard   operating   environments   upstream   for   earlier   Dev   and   Test   use,   automating  software  promotion  and  release,  and  managing  security  and  operational  SLAs  across  stages  of  the  SDLC.

For  Development  Teams  • Perform  your  dev  and  test  work  on  high  fidelity,  production-‐like  environments  that  are  available  self-‐service  and   on-‐demand.   No   longer   worry   about   configuring   application   stacks   and   administering   underlying  infrastructure  and  platforms,  so  you  can  spend  more  time  coding  and  less  time  on  non-‐productive  tasks.

For  Operations  Teams  • Use  policies  to  govern  the  usage  of  standardized  application  platforms  and  environments.  Leverage  fine-‐grain  governance   and   security   controls   to   take   full   advantage   of   your   organization’s   private,   public,   and   hybrid  cloud  strategy,  and  to  eliminate  configuration  mis-‐matches  and  errors  from  ever  making  it  into  production.

What  are  the  customer  results?  Some  of  the  world’s  largest  and  most  sophisticated  companies  in  financial  services,  health  care,  and  other  highly  regulated  industries  rely  on  ServiceMesh  to  rapidly  deliver  applications  and  services  leveraging  a  diverse  range  of  private  and  public  clouds.  Customer  benefits  include:

• Increase  new  application  updates/deployments  from  1,200  to  3,000  per  month.

• 95%  reduction  in  time-‐to-‐market  for  provisioning  custom  enterprise  platforms.

• 97%  reduction  in  time-‐to-‐market  for  provisioning  standardized  infrastructure  services.

• 42%  total  cost  of  ownership  savings  for  business  apps.

• 84%  operating  cost  savings  for  IT  infrastructure  services.

• Increase  IT  innovation  investment  by  48%  while  keeping  the  overall  IT  budget  constant.

What  are  key  Agility  Platform  differentiators?      Agility   Platform   allows   enterprises   to   establish   cloud   vendor   contestability,   and   simplifies   the   operational  complexities   of  DevOps   and  hybrid   cloud  management.   The  Agility   Platform  also  places   a  heavy  emphasis   on  policy-‐based   governance   and   security,   not   just   for   risk  mitigation  but   also   as   an   enabler   for   end-‐to-‐end,   fully  automated  self  service  IT  models.  Key  differentiators  include:

• Cloud-‐portable   application   blueprints.   Agility   Platform’s   application   blueprints   are   infrastructure  independent,   and   automate   the   orchestration   and   deployment   of   complex,   multi-‐tier   platforms   and  apps.  Blueprints  help  automate  enforcement  of  governance  and  security  standards  across  SDLC  stages.

• Policy-‐based,   extensible   cloud   governance.   Agility   Platform   provides   a   broad   range   of   application-‐centric  policy   controls   that   can  be   rapidly  enforced  across  SDLC  stages  and  hierarchical  organizational  models.  The  declarative  policy  engine  is  based  on  an  extensible  meta-‐model,  enabling  the  rapid  creation  and  enforcement  of  new  policies  and  policy  types.

• Application  Release  Automation.  Agility  Platform’s  Release  Manager  is  a  visual  dashboard  to  promote  application   code   and   complete   deployment   environments   across   SDLC   stages   for   software   release  automation.   Release   Manager   provides   an   end-‐to-‐end   view   of   the   release   pipeline,   integrates   into  existing  SDLC  tool  chains,  and  provides  customizable  approval  processes  and  quality  gates.

“We’ve  gone  from  spending  50%  of  our  operating  budget  on  infrastructure  to  just  26%.  A  nearly  75%  investment  in  apps  and  information  rather  than  infrastructure  –  that’s  huge.”
