This map illustrates satellite-detected standingwater over the El Beni department in Bolivia, asof the 12 February 2018, following heavy rainfallsthat caused severe flooding in the area. Theanalysis was conducted using Radarsat-2 imagefrom 12 February 2018. UNITAR-UNOSATidentified in the analyzed area of the El BeniDepartment around 52,670 Ha of land that seemto be inundated, most of which are agriculturalfields and swamps. The Rio Mamore hasexpanded along the banks. According to theanalysis, the most affected province is Moxos,where more than 35,500 Ha are submerged. Inthe municipality of Trinidad 6,900 Ha aredetected as inundated. This is a preliminaryanalysis and has not yet been validated in thefield. Please send ground feedback to UNITAR-UNOSAT.
