Effects of Negaholism in Organization
Negaholism as the name says it has a negative perspective. It is a syndrome which is
developed inside an individual unknowingly. Negaholism is a state of mind where a person
beliefs that he cannot get to a level which is set in case of an Organization. These people
often unite together and will be resistant to change. The confidence level of Negaholics withtheir negative frame of mind will be down as a result the motivational techniques adopted
by the management will not be sufficient to get the desired results.
The negative vibes created inside an organization can be the sole reason for the
friction developed between the workers and which may even contribute to the downfall of
the organization. This can invite fresh troubles and can harm the organization very badly. A
negative person with his lose tongue can spread negative vibes throughout the organization
which will witness certain down fall as the morale of the workers go down, the motivation
disappears all of a sudden, so it can affect the productivity too.
A motivational effort can often go wrong if the manager is dealing with a Negaholic.
A Negaholic would be someone who will come to a conclusion that it wont work, I cant,
very quickly without even thinking of the practicality. Negaholics may not take praise and
may turn down the praises as he believes that he cannot be in a winning stream and is not
capable of any smart work. A Negaholic will not take a task as he will have a fear of losing.
Negaholism can spread quickly and the management may not even notice. It does
not mean that every worker becomes Negaholics but it sort of spoils the motivational
efforts made by the management as they can spread negativism, this may result in lack of
co-ordination among the worker and groupism among workers. Negaholism should be dealt
with immediate preventive measures before spreading
A typical Negoaholic will be 1) He will show protective behaviour, strategies and
extreme negativity towards the organization and its members 2) Excessive criticism and
judgements 3) A self defeating attitude 4) Lack of enthusiasm 5) Sabotage of members and
departments 6) An overall attitude of I cant
Conclusions
Its not that tough to identify a Negoholic. If a manager i s hearing I cant, it wont
work etc time and time again from a person then there is a huge possibility that he might be
dealing with one.The sooner one identifies negoholism the better. After identifying a
negoholic or negoholics the management can implement preventive measures so that they
can rectify or even rebuild the team to ensure the smooth running of the organization
