December 22--28, 2019
December 29--January 4, 2020 January 5--10, 2020
A message from Father Alan Dufraimont.
I wish to thank Fr. Thomas Donohue for his presence and assistance these past few weeks. He is leaving us January 2 and actually heading to St. Mary’s Tillsonburg replacing Fr. John Pirt, their Pastor, for six months, as John is taking a sabbatical leave. Tom your presence and cooking skills are appreciated. Thank You! Our new Associate priest will be announced to us this coming week before Christmas but not soon enough to print in this Christmas bulletin. We wish to THANK the many St. Vincent de Paul members, the many parishioners that form teams to prepare the Christmas baskets for the families in need. Many of YOU have donated food and toys, as well as money for the teams to purchase what they need. I am guessing that between the four parishes about 150 baskets have been prepared, picked up or delivered. Thanks to all the volunteers! Thanks to all who have given to this ministry. You will see in this bulletin a calendar of events. Please mark your calendars and join us in worship, prayer and socials. Below is a message from your Pastoral Team, Parish Team which includes all staff.
May you and yours enjoy all the blessings of Christmas and this festive time. May the New Year bring a season of hope and joy to your hearts.
Peace and good will are God’s Christmas gifts to us. But to open them we must open our hearts, for they are hidden inside
And peace will be found when good will toward all leaves no place for hatred or indifference there.
We like our Christmases snowy and cold because inside it’s warm and cozy and bright. But cold’s no fun when there’s no inside beckoning.
With nowhere to go, that stable must have seemed like a palace to Mary and Joseph when they found it. As we count our blessings and praise God and warm ourselves in the love of family, the
Friendship of friends, and the good cheer of the season, we shouldn’t forget to look out at the Faces pressed against the window looking in.
What a marvelous blessing lay in store for the one who showed Mary and Joseph to the stable. May such a blessing be yours for whatever kindness you do the least of our brothers and sisters.
A Message from Father Tom:
THANK YOU: As I prepare to leave your family of Parishes to fill in while Fr. John Pirt is on Sabbatical I just want to thank so many of you who made my stay here very enjoyable. It was nice seeing several folks I had not seen for years, and meeting many new ones as well. I enjoyed celebrating our God here as so many seemed to really seek to encounter God in the Eucharist, and to see so many taking their faith outside of the temple was inspiring as well. I enjoyed the fellowship with Fr. Al and Fr. Frank, and I feel the Spirit is moving here in Norfolk to make many missionary disciples so I will pray for you, and hope you pray for me. And may you feel Christ’s love in your hearts this Christmas. That love always makes me Merry.
God of life, you have offered us all things to be gifts for your glory. Help us to pursue you above all things, and then
to use your resources faithfully. May we be good stewards of your gifts, now and forever. Amen.

April 4/5, Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord. Beginning of Holy Week! From the desk of Deacon Gerard: What is God like? A storm came in the middle of the night. As the lightning flashed and the thunder roared, the little boy got up and ran into his parents' bedroom. As he crawled into bed with them, his mother said gently, "Nicky, you don't have to be afraid of the storm. God is always with you." "I know," said the boy. "But I need someone with skin on." The birth of Jesus into our human family is marvelous proof of God's love for us. Jesus is God with skin on, 100 % human and 100% divine. Jesus, by his birth into our human world, has revealed God to us. Through his life and teachings, Jesus answers our burning question, "What is God really like?" Through Jesus we learn that God loves us more than we can imagine. God speaks with us, consoles us, calls us to forgiveness and challenges us to care for one another-especially those in need. As we celebrate the beautiful gift of God’s only Son born into our world this year, let us be filled with Joy, Love and Peace in God’s revelation of His unending and unconditional love for all his children.

Offertory Envelopes 2020
Your 2020 Offertory envelope box sets are available for pick up at the back of all churches. You will notice that you may have been issued a new box number due to book keeping purposes and for us to fill in the “unused” offertory box numbers, especially since we are now set up for Pre-Authorized donations (you will not be receiving a box set if you have registered for Pre-Authorized donations). Your Offertory envelope box will be placed in alphabetical order by your last name. Please pick up your box set as soon
as possible so we can make room in the church for Christmas seating. As in the past years, please do not use your “new” offertory envelopes before January 1st 2020. Also, if you pick up an offertory box set for someone else, please contact them as soon as possible so they know someone has picked their set up. This saves us setting up a duplicate “new” set for that person. If you would like to receive a set of offertory envelopes please contact the Parish Office. Thanks!
Donations Just a reminder that DONATIONS for your 2019 OFFERINGS must be received by DECEMBER 31st to be included on your 2019 Tax Receipt. Any offerings received after that date will be accepted as 2020 donations and included in 2020 receipts.

We Wish Everyone A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
Avoiding Christmas Burnout
It’s that wonderful time of year… the time of year that stretches your schedule and your patience. You might be tired of hearing the same Christmas songs and overloaded on Christmas commercialism. But, what if we could experience the Advent season with fresh eyes and a renewed heart and truly see it as the most wonderful time of the year? See Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child. Look around and observe the joy and wonder in children this holiday season. Revel in their excitement as they make Christmas lists for Santa and participate in Christmas programs and sing their hearts out. Focus on the Gift. Don’t forget your gift… the One who was laid in a manger and became our Savior. The wondrous love, wrapped up in the gift of Jesus. So, as we focus on giving, rather than getting don’t forget the wondrous, priceless gift that was sent for you
Feast of Holy Family
Father, Son and Spirit, you are yourself a family of persons, whose love is a gift for us all. Teach us to love each
other in every interaction and moment. Make us practitioners of forgiveness and peace, images of your family that
can bring about more love in the world. Amen.
Solemnity of Mary
Mary, Mother of God, you held God’s plans for you with wonder and awe. May we walk in your example, storing up
God’s promises like treasures, especially when we do not yet understand. Amen.
