The Ooline tree with its
rainforest origins dating
back to the Pleistocene
Era (1.6 million to
10,000 years ago) has
been listed as a
‘vulnerable’ species.
This listing is as a result
of the scarcity of the
remnant Ooline trees
with only several stands
of Ooline remaining in
South Western and
Central Queensland.

Tour the property with hosts Lyle and
Madonna as your personal guides.
Take a step back in time and visit the historical
Bonus Downs Homestead built in 1911 by Sir
Samuel McCaughey, preserved in wonderful
glory by owners Lyle and Madonna, The tour
also takes in a visit to the Jackaroo’s quarters.
Load up onto the 4WD and travel through the
‘Buffel Padock’ and hear first hand about the
farming history of the property. Arrive at the
famous Ooline Forest just in time for your Billy
T e a a n d D a m p e r .
Here you can walk through the silent forest or
just sit around the campfire waiting for your
delicious meal.

Painstakingly restored to its
former g lory, the
homestead if filled with

quarters is a
showcase for a
century’s worth of
rural enterprise
and a source of
fascination to
visitors. Morning Tea is served on the Homestead
