and most are free to air with minor exceptions. While the Nile Sat and the Arab Sat have launched new
satellites, High Definition is the name of the game in this part of the world as the more advanced world is
edging more towards 3-D television, which has become a reality.
In the Arab World's most undisputed leader in media and entertainment, Egypt, the second round of Cairo
MET is taking place at the Cairo International Conference Centre (CICC) on 20 - 23 February. Cairo MET
(Media and Entertainment Trends) is not yet another event to display gadgets and technologies, but a
platform for very rich industries to meet and learn about policies, regulations, deregulations, technologies and more.
With the rise of IPTV and Mobile TV, as well as other vehicles to carry content to viewers, television
and cinema shall never be the same. Accordingly, this important event which will combine
producers, channel owners and experts will make use in being held in Hall 5 of the CICC
adjacently with one of the region's top technology events - Cairo ICT - held in the other four
halls and where mobile and fixed line operators as well as IPTV providers and FTTx integrators.
But this event will not only focus on Radio and Television, as it covers a wider scope that
