What is Multimedia?
Multimedia can have a many definitions these include: Multimedia means that computer information can be
represented through audio, video, and animation inaddition to traditional media (i.e., text, graphicsdrawings, images).
A good general definition is: Multimedia is the field concerned with the computer-
controlled integration of text, graphics, drawings, still andmoving images (Video), animation, audio, and any othermedia where every type of information can berepresented, stored, transmitted and processed digitally.
A Multimedia Application is an Application which usesa collection of multiple media sources e.g. text, graphics,images, sound/audio, animation and/or video.
Hypermedia can be considered as one of the multimediaapplications.

difficult understandable information.
The information reception via differentsenses is more corresponding to humansnatural communication manners.
Dynamical media offer better visualizationpossibilities than statically ones.
The reception of continuous changinginformation works better than theassimilation of statically information.

learning / working (CSCL / CSCW) etc.
Point of Interest (POI) for instance digital information systems like info-terminals in a museum
or train-stations; e.g. city-information-systems, site plans of bigshopping centres etc.
Point of Sales (POS) this means info-systems which are mainly for sales promotion, for
instance online counter etc.
CD-ROM for instance advertisements, games, computer based training etc.
Internet for instance online shopping, advertisements, web based training etc.
