The Challenge Americold contacted SmartWatt Energy, Inc., to perform construction-grade

energy audits and complete value-engineered designs of new energy-ef�cient

lighting systems for twenty-eight facilities across the United States. SmartWatt

Energy’s SmartLighting® solution featured LED �xtures, based on their superior

performance in cold storage applications, combined with motion controls.

Americold’s goals were to dramatically improve the quality and quantity of

light, and to save energy. Based on the impressive results of the

SmartLighting® solution proposed, Americold is currently working with

SmartWatt Energy to implement projects at additional facilities nationwide.

Smart SavingsIn addition to improved conditions, Americold will enjoy the following realized

energy savings from this lighting upgrade project:
