Extracurricular Experience Blacksburg High School Internship 2013-Present

Academic Lab Intern, Spring 2013 • Interned in the Academic Lab at Blacksburg High School, which compromised

between 15 and 25 special needs and study hall students, for 4 hours a week. Tutored students in trouble areas, such as essay writing, and helped with overall organization of school and study materials.

Classroom Intern, Fall 2013 • Shadowed an English 10th grade honors teach at Blacksburg High School for 6

hours each week. I spent two periods with English 10H classes and the other class period with a journalism course.

• Organized instruction materials for the teacher, assisted in classroom instruction, and provided extra help for students when needed.

Sigma Tau Delta Spring 2013-Present

• Member of the International English National Honor Society. Membership is determined by a requirement of at least a 3.0 GPA and a ranking of at least the highest 35 percent of the class.

Work Experience

Virginia Tech Student Calling Center 2010-Present Shift Manager, Spring 2012-Present

• Run a shift of 30 callers three times a week. I am responsible for a team of 4 staff members who in turn supervise the 30 callers.

• All shift-related problems and issues are delegated to me and I ensure that each night of calling runs smoothly.

• Run statistical analyses three times each night and interpret those statistics to determine which callers’ performances are below average, and delegate a staff member to address any issues.

Quality Assurance Specialist, Spring 2011-Fall 2011 • Helped trainees through their first eight shifts of calling. Monitored their phone

calls, held weekly meetings to discuss performance and improvement. Student Caller, Fall 2010-Spring 2011

• Called alumni, parents, and friends of the university to donate towards various academic funds.

• Raised $28,140 (third highest amount of any caller during the fall 2010 semester).
