My House Shall Be Called A House Of
Prayer For All Peoples -- Isaiah 56:7
We've talked about this verse for many
years. We have even commissioned an
artist to make us a beautiful rendition
of this for our walls. Now it is time for
us to put these words into action.
Our neighbors across the river in
Windsor have a lovely and small con-
gregation. Their numbers have dwin-
dled. Mostly because of their caring
rabbi, Rabbi Alan Lefkowitz, their
doors have remained open.

During this past month, we have invited
their religious school to join us on Sun-
days. It was a lovely four weeks.
Everyone is talking about making it per-
manent.
On Friday night, March 11, we will be
hosting their congregation for a dinner
before services at Temple Beth Hillel.
This is an amazing opportunity for our
two congregations to get to know each
other.
It will be nice to see you there.!
B’shalom,
Rabbi G.
F RO M T H E P R E S I D E N T
Last month, I was able to update the
congregation on the various non-
financial ways in which our family mem-
bers were able to contribute to the No
Small Change campaign begun at the
High Holy Days this past September. At
the time, I needed to tie up some loose
ends before I could report on the finan-
cial aspect of the campaign.
While there is a bit of work still to do, I
am happy to report that as a result of
the generosity of the TBH community
and others, we were able to raise
$500,000! There were many TBH Family
Members who contributed to the cam-
paign.
With the funds we have received so far,
the board has paid down the line of
credit to a $0 balance. Additionally, the
second mortgage that was taken out ap-
proximately 6 years ago, has been paid
off and closed. That is approximately
$150,000 in debt that has been paid off.
In the coming weeks, the board will be
formulating a plan for the remaining
balance of the funds raised. Board mem-
bers will be meeting with several invest-
ment specialists and advisors who will
help the board structure an endowment
to provide the greatest long-term value
to our congregation.
Thank you to all those who contributed
in any way to the success of No Small
Change. I would also like to take a mo-
ment to say thank you to some of our
most generous donors. Thank you to the
following families:

NOTE: Signups for the 2016/2017 onegs will be done through SignUp Genius. Watch the email blast for the
link. This online tool makes it easy to pick the best date for your family. For those that prefer to not do it electron-
ically, or don’t have access to email, please call the TBH Office to choose your date.
As a reminder, the following items should be provided for each oneg:
1 challah
3 baked goods (one gluten-free item)
Cheese and crackers
Fruit
White grape juice
Paper goods can be found on the rack in the kitchen. Wine is in the fridge.
**If you choose to make coffee and/or put out hot water for tea, all of the
necessary supplies, i.e. sugar, coffee, tea, cream, stirrers, cups, etc. are located on the rack in the kitchen. Hot
water pots can be found to the left of the sink. Please schedule everyone to arrive by 7:00 pm to set up the tables
and pour the wine and grape juice. Your team is also responsible to remain after
services for clean up. There is a vacuum in the kitchen if it is needed.
Additionally, all garbage bags that may contain food should be tied off and thrown in the dumpster. We need
your help since the janitorial service does not clean the kitchen after an Oneg.

Vayak’heil - Exodus 35:1-38:20 —This portion from the Torah describes how the assembly of Israel worked
together to build the Tabernacle.
P’kudei - Exodus 38:21-40:38 —The last reading from Exodus begins with an audit of how the contributions
for the Tabernacle were used. The portion goes on to describe the completion of the Tabernacle and its assem-
bly and concludes by depicting the glory of G-d entering it.
Vayikra — Leviticus 1:1-5:26 —Leviticus describes the sacrificial service and the duties of the priests. It also
introduces ritual purity, the biblical diet, the calendar of appointed times, laws of holiness and laws relating to
redemption, vows and tithes. In addition, Leviticus discourses on ethical instruction and holiness. The twenty-
fourth reading from the Torah is eponymous with the Hebrew name of the book it introduces: Vayikra. This
portion introduces the sacrificial service and describes five different types of sacrifices.
Tzav - Leviticus 6:1-8:36 —The portion reiterates the five types of sacrifices introduced in the previous por-
tion but this time discusses the priestly regulations pertaining to them. The last chapter of the reading de-
scribes the seven-day ordination of Aaron and his sons as they prepared to enter the holy priesthood.

The TBH Book Club is meeting Tuesday, March 8, 7:00, at Marlene Abrahamson’s
house.
The book is Orphan #8 by Kim Van Alkemade. A new historical novel inspired by
true events, the author tells the fascinating story of a woman who must choose be-
tween revenge and mercy when she encounters the doctor who subjected her to dan-
gerous medical experiments in a New York City Jewish Orphange.
We hope you can join us!

In November 2016, Mindy Glickman will escort a group of mothers on a (free) trip to
Israel. The trip is NOT a synagogue trip. It is with an organization called JWRP,
who pays for all the land arrangements. She has arranged funding for the communi-
ty portion. Each mother is responsible to pay their own airfare.
There are a few basic requirements:
Moms must be raising Jewish children (til age 18) who live in their homes
Moms must live within a 30 minute radius of South Windsor
Moms agree to participate in pre and post trip education/volunteer opportunities
Moms should not be (traditionally) Shomer Shabbat observers
Mothers can already apply to be part of the trip at this website:
JWRP.org/apply
An easy way to be part of the conversations is to join us in our Facebook group: The
Mitzvah Mamas—https://www.facebook.com/groups/1481371275431712/
Mindy welcomes emails or phone calls. She can be reached at

I would also like to express a very special

extraordinary generosity that No Small

Because of their generosity and that of
everyone who has contributed, Temple

for financial stability in years to come.
What better way to celebrate 20 years of
service from Rabbi Jeff Glickman than to
help prepare ourselves for the next 20.
