We are starting to hire Morahs (for grades K-1), counselors, lifeguards and junior counselors, and would like to give com-munity members the opportunity to apply for these positions. Registration is now open for the Mashadi Vol-leyball Leagues Season Two. Game nights are at Shaare Shalom gym on Tuesday nights start-ing at 8:30pm. For more information please con-tact David Hematian, [email protected].

Lectures on Medicaid Planning and Asset Protection: There will be a three part seminar given by our own community member and attorney, Mr. Avi Mazloumi. Attendees will learn: what must be done to qualify for Medicaid; what must be done to avoid being re-jected; how to protect your assets from Medicaid ‘s reach; and how to protect your assets from any fu-ture creditors and from any future creditors of our children. We urge all community members to at-tend these important seminars. All seminars will take place at Ohr Esther at 8:30pm. Monday, February 22nd: Community Medicaid. If you pay property taxes in Nassau County, you have a right to appeal your property’s annual assessment. You do not need an attorney to f ile a grievance. On February 3rd at 7:30pm at Ahavat Shalom Syna-gogue, Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman, and Councilmember Anna Kaplan will help you understand the tax grievance process.

ANGEL FUND FUNDRAISERThe UMJCA Angel Fund helps the community mem-bers and families with funds for emergency needs such as food, counseling services, job placement and help for qualifying for government assistance programs. Dr. Leah Hakimian currently researches the ques-tion: How do Jewish couples meet and marry? In the 90’s she founded two nonprofit Jewish match-making programs, and continues to champion the role of community in helping singles meet. She writes on a volunteer basis to inspire her readers and to encourage them to keep their “antennae up.” She resides in Jerusalem and Great Neck, New York. HaChodesh now has the privelege of sharing her stories with you.

“Look for guys by following your hobbies,” suggests wikiHow. “Ask yourself what you really love to do.” Allison Dwyer, 26, was doing what she really loved – cheering for the track team of her alma mater, Emory University. Michael (Mike) Rothbart, 29, was at the Armory Track and Field Center for the same reason. “No way was I there to look for guys,” insists Allison.

Chocolate Cake Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 teaspoons baking soda 3/4 cup baking cocoa 2 cups sugar

1. Preheat oven to 325°. Sift together dry ingredients in a bowl. Add oil, coffee and milk; mix at medium speed for 1 minute. Add eggs and vanilla; beat 2 minutes longer. (Batter will be thin.) 2. Pour into two greased and floured 9-in. round baking pans 3. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans. Cool on wire racks.4. Slice the cake horizontally to make 3 layers of cake.

Layering the trifle: -Slices of chocolate cake -Pack of chocolate chip cookies - crushed -1 rich whip - whip in a blender -1 pack chocolate pudding

Place a layer of chocolate cake on the bottom of your trifle bowl. Pour a few spoons of chocolate pudding over it and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the crushed cookies over the pudding and spread rich whip on top of the cookies. Repeat these steps until you reach the top of the trifle bowl. Decorate with the chocolate chip cookies. Keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy.
