year, the manager for~·~ ' Anthony Fokker 1 s account with Oliphant & Co.,

• brokers of NY, reque~ted the Cashier for

Oliphant to make out a check for $71 500 payable

to Elliott Roosevelt .

After six or seven weeks , the cashier asked the Fokker man lllaJl~IIX about the check and told him thdi the

check had not c leared and was still outstanding .

Fokker ' s manager---without any reason--told the

cashier to cancel the check.

The check up to May 1st had not oo me back.

Several days after the Fokker man stoppeu

payment on the check, the Associatee Press and

the NY Times queeriea Oliphant & Co . re the

check ••• -they gave no info ·at all .

The AP & NY Times man intimatee strongly that

Senator Nye had told them about it---ei~er

directly or indirectly.

Within the last two months a par t ner of X,.

Oli phant &Co spoke to Nye about it and asked that

the firm be kept out of it inasmuch as they just

acted for a customer ••• Nye is supposed to have

said "Don't worry about that matter ••• we will

get around to it latter.

Subesquently--in further checking the story

was advised that there might be other checks ••• but this is 100 percent hearsay although from a very reliable source.
