Position Purpose: To provide effective management and strong leadership of multidisciplinary programs which aims to ensure that Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander (Aboriginal) mothers, babies, and children receive health care and early learning support during the antenatal phase, through childbirth, until the child attains eight years of age
To manage the operational, financial, human and information resources of programs in consultation with the Program Director Allied Health & Community Services
To work collaboratively with other service areas to achieve the actions outlined in the Service Agreement for New Directions and the Department of Health ‘Improving Care for Aboriginal Patients’ (ICAP) program
To represent Aboriginal issues to key forums internally and to external stakeholders To oversee cultural competency development and within Mercy Public Health Inc (MPHI) including activities such as the annual
Reconciliation and NAIDOC week events Qualifications:
Tertiary level qualifications in a related discipline (Allied Health, Social Science, Nursing, Health Administration or Community Health)
Current driver’s license Experience: A minimum of 4 years experience as a Manager in a health care or community setting
Relevant project management experience Broad based knowledge of Aboriginal health issues and commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal people Experience in consultation with the Aboriginal community and its Elders Knowledge of and commitment to the Victorian Aboriginal community, cultures and values, mainstream as well as Aboriginal

Position Purpose: As part of a multi-disciplinary team, effectively prepare for implementation of the Nangnak Wan Myeek (New Directions) Program, the federal government’s policy framework for Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander (Aboriginal) maternal and child health by:
providing research support for the program, in accordance with Office of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH) guidelines and Service Delivery Review Framework (SDRF), and the priority areas identified by the federal government as a key part of the ‘Closing the Gap’ strategy and others as identified by the Manager – Aboriginal Programs
participating in data collection, entry and written reports as required working collaboratively with staff to support Aboriginal families to develop skills and support structures relating to
pregnancy care and parenting practices under direction and supervision of the Manager – Aboriginal Programs Qualifications & Requirements:
Desirable- Tertiary level qualifications in a related discipline (Allied Health, Social Science, Nursing, Health Administration or Community Health) or demonstrated experience working in the Aboriginal community health sector.
