It may be time to Fall back, but we’re eagerly facing forward as the Most Wonderful Time of the Year awaits.
A fitting first and foremost. With the celebration of Thanksgiving upon us, our expression of profound appreciation to everyone for your presence, positivity and participation in the Auburn Arts Association during the past year. And, in the spirit of thanks for giving, a fond farewell to our friend and art education specialist Cari Cleckler, who has relocated with her family over the rainbow and up the road to Birmingham. Our endless gratitude and admiration to Cari for her enduring artful impact and contributions to the community. We will miss everything Cari, including the alliterative rhythm of her name. And, we warmly welcome Lila Stone to creatively and colorfully carry on.
As the calendar swiftly turns to December, we hear a train a-comin’....All aboard the Polar Express! Arriving at Jan Dempsey Station Saturday December 7. Get your tickets for a joyful ride into the holiday season.
Next stop, the annual Holiday Arts Sale. On Saturday December 14, the Jan Dempsey, Frank Brown, and Harris Center Triangle will be abundant with arts and crafts, and unique gifts and goodies for everyone’s Wish List. Check it twice.
And, it’s not too early to make a New Year’s resolution. Foresight is 2020. How about… enjoy participating in as many Arts Association events and activities as possible in the coming year? Beginning on Saturday morning, February 8. Whether (weather) or not ground hog Phil sees his shadow, we are having a yART Sale at the JDCAC. The Winterlude gathering in the vicinity of Valentines will feature funky fun, food and drink, with art and artifacts, quirky campy curiosities and collectibles, everything but the kitsch-en sink!
As always, the Auburn Arts Association annual calendar includes art for all and for all seasons, with gallery receptions, performances, art classes and camps, and festivals in the parks and city streets. We look forward to seeing you!
Our Arts Associations’ aims are to foster community interest, awareness, appreciation and participation in the arts. Thanks always to our members, patrons and partners, supporters, and unsung heroes….you are all vibrant and vital to our continued artquest.

Held at JDCAC, Frank Brown Recreation Center, and the Harris Center, this popular event features artwork, paintings, fabric art, hand-crafted clothing items, ceramics, jewelry, Christmas ornaments and decorations created by local and regional artists.
We’ll serve warm apple cider and cookies, too.

FEBRUARY 8, 20208AM-2PMAAA yART SALE Enjoy morning coffee, mimosas, and breakfast treats –Scottish scones, Danish sweet rolls, and French croissants – as you shop for gently-used, previously-loved yART.
What, you ask, is yART? The answer to that question is in the eyes of
the beholder. Maybe it’s an itch for kitsch. Maybe it’s pseudo-gallery art. Maybe it’s “Hoarders” meets “Antiques Roadshow.” Have fun deciding for yourself as you join us to support the AAA on Saturday morning. Choose funky, campy, and quirky treasures for your home and garden. There’ll be art books, fabrics, old toys, jewelry, accessories, artifacts, vases, housewares, decorative items of questionable taste and more.
We invite our AAA members to donate yART items to the sale.So search your attics, take something off your shelves, blow the dust off an old studio piece. Then come spend the morningwith us, fortify yourselves with food and drink, and shop for “new” yART collectibles! We’ll have fun as we raise money for scholarships andart education projects.
For information on how todonate or volunteer to help withthe event, email us at:[email protected].
