3D CNC ROUTER
The 3D CNC Router gives the reliability and performance of more expensive CNC machines.
The Personal Robotics System (PRS) includes everything that you will need to get up and
running: the tool, the table and the software. No matter what your needs are, routing, sculpting,
cutting, or machining, the program that you need is available. No longer is this type of
technology available only for large companies; it is now available for small businesses who like
to compete at higher levels, who like to be able to offer their clientele the type of service that
they deserve and to those who want to expand and incorporate new technologies into their
business.
This type of technology can be incorporated into many different projects and can cut your time in
half. You will be able to work faster and produce quality products that will make every customer
happy. From sign making to woodworking, the 3D CNC router offers you the ability to offer 3D
work that is sure to please.
Real 3D
features will
stand out
among the
rest. 2D
carves do
not stand
out. 3D
carves stand
out and
stand up,
making
them unique
and very
noticeable.
3D uses
angles and
curves to cut
the path.
The X, Y,
and Z axes
are used. Also with 3D, you will design in 3D. Even though the former 2.5D option was cutting
in 3D like moves, the design process was still 2D, not 3D.
The 3D CNC Router offers more complex carving, unique features and design options.
Designing and the actual tool-path creation is two different things completely and there are
different software programs for each. You must learn how to separate the two.

No longer will your design process be flat drawing lines, now you will model your design. You
build up the design using different 3D shapes and with the right program this actual model will
reflect over onto the tool path. This means that what you were previously used to, will no longer
be with the 3D CNC router.
Clip Art/Models
If you don’t do enough 3D projects to justify the cost of the 3D modeling software, you do not
have to worry about it. There are companies who offer 3D clip art that can be used with the 3D
CNC router. If you do not use the software program enough, your proficiency level as an artist
will not be high. The 3D clipart option could be the best option for you.
Purchasing 3D models via the web may not be best. Usually these models have been developed
for other uses such as video, etc. They are not developed explicitly for cutting; however, you can
purchase 3D models that are specifically designed for cutting and this would be the right option
for you. So, when considering purchasing 3D models instead of developing your own, make sure
that you purchase the right ones. The resolution quality will be better and they will allow you to
change the scale of the model, if needed.

CNC PLASMA PLANS
There are many different CNC plasma plans and kits that are available on the market. If you are
planning on trying to build your own CNC plasma cutting machine, then this could be the way
for you to go. You will first want to search and find the plans that you could possibly work with.
Once you locate the right CNC plasma plans for you, make sure you purchase several different
plans. Study those plans closely and then you will see which one works best for you and that you
are capable of building and that the end product that is created will perform the jobs that you are
wanting it to do.
Decide whether you need a larger machine or a smaller one. This can help you in your decision
making process in relation to the plans that are right for you. You have to know exactly what you
want the machine to do. You don’t want to spend the time building your own custom CNC
plasma cutting machine and in the end realize that it cannot do what you need it to do.
Next, make tweaks to the plans. Do you want to incorporate something different into the design
element of the CNC plasma machine that you want to build? Or, will it work the way it is for
you? These are very important questions that you will need to know the answer to.
Do not give up. Start to build your unique machine. It may be difficult and it may take some
considerable time to complete, but at least start on the project. As you begin to see the project
develop right in front of your eyes, you will begin to have the inspiration to finish it. Most people
end up giving up after they view the plans. They never even begin to build a machine. Do not let
that happen to you. Imagine the possibilities that a machine like this can create for you. Find that
inspiration that will help you to keep this project on the front burner up until completion.
CNC plasma plans are like blueprints that tell you what the specifics are of the design and how it
all works, the mechanics of the machine any way. You will want to have some kind of
knowledge on how to read plans in order for you to go completely through with the project. If
not, someone who can read the plans who can help you out is advisable. Experience in this type
of work can also help you in the long run. Viewing plans of this magnitude can become
overwhelming. Just remember, do not give up. It is definitely not going to be easy, no one ever
said that it would; however, it can be done.
To learn more about CNC plasma plans, search the internet. You will be able to find several
different companies who offer plans for purchase. They may even be able to help you in finding
the plan that is right for you.

CNC ROUTER MACHINES
CNC router machines can be used to create a variety of different projects. If you are looking for
the perfect machinery addition to your business to help boost it, then definitely look at the CNC
router machine. From sign making, furniture building, sheet plastic fabrication, non-ferrous sheet
metal machining, cabinet making, etc, the CNC router machines can pretty much offer you a
whole other level to add to your current business.
The CNC router machines operate off of computer numerical controlled and robotic technology.
This means that upon downloading a software program to the machine which tells the machine
what exactly to do and to what specifications to do it, basically all the operator has to do is hit

http://cncrouterzone.org/
the start button once the machine is loaded with the materials. Very little human intervention is
required. One employee can oversee the operations of several machines at one time.
Once started, the machine will continue to operate until the program tells it to stop. The CNC
router machines come in variety of different sizes which allows you more design possibilities in
terms of the size of materials that you can use and what you can create. Very little waste will be
created as the machine will use one sheet to cut out all the specific parts that are necessary
(unless the project is extremely large and more materials are required).
To get the machine to do different projects, software programs for each project will need to be
written. You can save the program that has been written by the programmer and use it at any
time in the future where you may need to duplicate a project. If this happens, there is no fear that
the project will not turn out the exact same. With computer numerical controlled technology, you
can guarantee that each time the program is used; you will receive the exact same finished
product. Replication is an easy process.
There are many different options when it comes to CNC router machines. Depending upon the
brand that you buy, you can features such as larger cutting spaces, vacuum tables, different
spindle options, automatic tool change spindles, gang drills for in line boring, and much more. It
does not matter whether you are a small business or a large corporation; there is a CNC router
machine that is right for you.
Expand your business by expanding your creativity, design capabilities and service options to
your customers. Create those one of a kind designs that is sure to please anyone. Make beautiful
furniture, beautiful cabinets for any home, help businesses advertise with sophistication and
class. These are just some of the ways in which you can use your CNC router machine to expand
your business opportunities.
If you have any questions about CNC router machines just contact any dealer or supplier of the
CNC technology. They will be able to answer any other questions that you may have and will be
able to point you in the right direction to ensure that you purchase the right machine for your
business.

CNC ROUTER SPINDLE
When it comes to CNC router machines, there are several different CNC router spindle options
that are available. One brand may have more or different options than another brand, so make
sure that you shop around so that you are able to get the right machine for you. Having the
correct spindle is absolutely a necessity.
It is very important that you have the right spindle for high performance. The CNC router
spindles come in a variety of different horsepower and rpm performance. For example: three
horsepower manual tool change spindles for 220 volt with an RPM range of 24,000 is just one of
the many options that are available.
The weight of the CNC router spindles is also another very important feature. You want to make
sure that your machine can support the weight as some of these spindles can weigh upwards of
18 -20 pounds. You don’t want the weight to slow down the performance of the machine.
Having the right electric service to support the spindle is also very important. Most spindles
come in 220 volt options, even though they can have different RPM speeds. Depending upon
what brand of CNC router spindle that you purchase, you can plan on spending several thousand
dollars; however, depending upon what brand you can also find cheaper CNC router spindles
that have a lower horsepower, such as 1, than can cost a considerably less amount of money.
Look for features that include: high frequency output, quiet operation, on/off via the CNC
system, the ideal spindle that allows you to cut a variety of different materials, heavy duty
mounting brackets, and even maintenance free options. These are just some of the many features
that are available that can help to make your life a little bit easier.

http://cncrouterzone.org/
There are also options of having multiple spindles. Of course, this type of technology will
depend upon the brand, as all brands do not offer multi-spindle options for the CNC router
machines. These would come in handy for drill bits as well as many other things.
One thing that you must absolutely not forget to purchase whenever you purchase a new spindle
for your routing machine is the proper router mount. Different mounts are designed to work with
different spindles. You want a mount that can support the weight of the spindle that you buy
while still allowing the machine to operate at full capacity, speed and performance level; you do
not want it to break causing your machine to get torn up where repairs are needed. Mounts can
usually be fairly inexpensive. Depending upon the quality of the mount and what the options are,
you can purchase mounts for your new router spindle for as little as $45 dollars.
If you have any questions about the CNC router spindles and which one would be best for you
and your machine, talk to any dealer or supplier. They will be able to answer any further
questions that you may have and will be able to point you in the right direction so that you get
what you need with your purchase.

CNC SERVO MOTORS
CNC servo motors must be able to provide the customers with the highest possible performance
standards and with the best quality while still being reliable. Because of the type of machining
that CNC machines can perform it is essential that the motors can stand up to the performance
standards that are required.
The motors for CNC machines need to be high performance, large torque, high acceleration and
high maximum speeds. This is what this industry demands and with the other amazing
technology that is incorporated into the CNC machines, the motor also needs to be just as
amazing.
There are several different options available in the CNC servo motors department and the motors
come in a wide range of sizes. It is pretty much a guarantee that you can find a servo motor that
will work with your machine. High performance machines need to be topped off with high
performance motors that will stand the test of time. Smooth operation, nano precision and
excellent acceleration are just some of the things that you should look for in a CNC servo motor.
Motors come in sizes such as: 6000 rpm and 1 to 3000 NM. This is one of the better quality
motors that are available on the market. With this type of a motor you will be guaranteed the
performance, precision and operation that you are expecting. This motor will serve the test of
time and run your CNC machine with ease.
There are other well performing and
reliable servo motors that are
available on the market. Even
though they may not stand up
to the top servo motors, one
step lower will still offer
reliability and quality that
still will produce the highest
possible performance
standards for a motor of that
size.
Servo motors will allow tight
tolerance CNC machining. Most
servo motors come with an encoder
that is of high quality as well and is
mounted usually on the rear shaft of the
motor. In a servo motor, the skewing of the rotor
results in low cogging makes this type of motor very suitable for high
resolution applications and precise machining capabilities.

http://cncrouterzone.org/
Servo motors are usually having lower rpm ranges than large motors that are developed for the
larger CNC machines. Servo motors are best for the smaller CNC machines that require less than
5,000 rpm for operation. Regardless of the type of the CNC machine, the CNC servo motor will
work for the smaller machines. You can get the standard encoder options and some companies
even offer an encoder that is housed in a metal casing.
Just like with any other motor and performance standards for machines you probably have
several questions about the product and the performance of the product. If this is the case,
contact your dealer/supplier and they should be able to answer the questions that you have. When
trying to decide upon this type of motor or the size of the motor that is needed, it can be difficult
and any dealer should be able to point you in the right direction.

CNC STEPPER MOTORS
CNC stepper motors are designed to be used on mid-sized and small CNC mills and milling
machines, lathes, engravers, cutters, plasma cutters, vinyl sign cutters, foam cutters and many
more. Stepper motors are used in other things besides CNC machines, like robots. These motors
offer advanced torque curves as well as low inductance. These motors, because of advanced
torque curves and the low inductance that they offer, are the best choice for higher speed rapids
and close lead screw pitches.
CNC stepper motors come in basically two different forms: the unipolar motor and the bipolar
motor. The bipolar series of motors uses the full coil, which in turn gives great torque at low
speeds; however, the higher the inductance quality that is offered with the CNC stepper motors,
the more quickly torque drops off. Other bipolar motors are offered, for example, the bipolar
parallel motors which also use the full coil.
Unipolar and bipolar half coil stepper motors do not
give great torque at low speeds because
fewer turns are being used;
however, because of the low
inductance quality that is offered
with the CNC stepper motors,
the torque is held out at higher
speeds.
As with any other CNC
motor, the motor quality,
reliability and compatibility
will all depend upon the
brand that is purchased.
Different manufacturers
offer different set ups,
different options and
different configurations between their
CNC machines and the CNC stepper motors that are
designed to work with each other. You will be better off if you
purchase a CNC stepper motor that is of the same brand and that will work with
the CNC machine that you currently have or that you are looking at buying.
Different wire configurations for set up qualities are offered depending upon the manufacturer
and the type of CNC stepper motor that you are looking at. Some offer 6 leads, while others offer
less. There are diagrams that are available from the manufacturers that can help to explain the
leads and the wire configurations better.

http://cncrouterzone.org/
Optimal performance standards for these motors are good compared to the size of the machines
that these stepper motors are designed to work with. When used in correlation with the proper
size of CNC machine and the proper type of CNC machine, these stepper motors may be all that
you need to achieve the desired effects with machines of this size.
Pre-wired plugs are available for the stepper motors that help to reduce the installation time by
quite a bit. You may also have to purchase a driver box to work in conjunction with the stepper
motor. The installation process with the pre-wired plugs can be as simple as plugging the right
wire to the right axis and that is it.
If you have any questions about a CNC stepper motor, its capabilities and what exactly it is
designed to work in correlation with, you can ask your dealer/supplier. They will be able to
answer questions and to guide you in the right direction when it comes to picking out the right
one for you.

CNC WOOD LATHE
CNC wood lathes can come in handy for many different wood working projects. You can create
one-of-a-kind projects, beautiful spindles and stair rails, among other things. There is no more
hand turning or cranking. This computer operated machine does all of the work for you.
The CNC wood lathe can be a great addition to any woodworking shop or hobby shop. If you are
into furniture making or remodeling homes, this can also be the perfect machine for you. You
can use this machine to not only sculpt and mold the perfect spindles or stair railings; you can
use it for many other things such as putting designs into other projects.
The CNC wood lathe can also be used with other materials. Aluminum and brass works great
with the wood lathe. The materials can stand up to the numerous and continuous turning process
and this gives you even more possibilities for creativity and design. This machine could be the
one addition to your shop that induces more creativity and customers, as well as income.
The CNC wood lathes are available in various sizes, and the one that you want will depend upon
the type of work that you normally do. Smaller models can be mounted onto benches and are
semi-portable. Portability offers new avenues for your business.
Remember that lathes operate on a spinning process; therefore, you must always practice safety
precautions when working with a lathe. The CNC wood lathe means that it is controlled through
the computer and once the machine begins to start it will continue to make the number of turns
that the program specifies until it is done. This could cause major safety issues if one is not
careful when working around it.
Make sure you do not wear loose sleeves that could potentially get caught in the machine. Do not
wear any watches or rings. These too can get caught in a machine like this. Always make sure
that you wear safety goggles to help protect your eyes, even if there is no flying debris. It’s just a
good habit to get into. Another good idea is to wear earplugs around any type of machinery.
Other safety precaution could be simple things like making sure that the machine has completely
stopped before attempting to make adjustments or changing the speed of the spindles on the
machine.
When it comes to the CNC wood lathes, make sure that you always have the correct cutting tool
for the material. This is a major factor in determining how precise and finished the product will
turn out once the machine has finished its process. The wrong tool can lead to disastrous effects.
To learn more about the CNC wood lathe and the process that it entails, ask your dealer. They
will be able to answer any other questions that you may have. They will also be able to instruct
you on the type and size of the machine that you will need for the jobs that you want to do.

CNC Z AXIS
When it comes to CNC
machining, things can
become a little bit
confusing. Most CNC
machines operate on 3 axes
and those are referred to as
X, Y, and Z. Some of the
CNC machines implement
a 5-axis form of movement
where there are 2 more axes
that are used. Each axis
represents a different
motion that can be done.
For example: side-to-side
motion, up-and-down motion, etc. This is why CNC machines are capable of performing almost
any type of motion because of the combination of the axes that are used.
As mentioned previously, different axes offer different motions. With the Z axis, depth comes
into play. How deep will the machine cut, especially when formulating designs? Something has
to allow the machine to make the turns, the angles, and so forth. The robotic arm allows the
machine to do this.
The different axes will allow the machine to do different things. The more axes that the machine
operates on, the more creative you can be. The more diverse the parts or projects can become.
With the five axis machines, pretty much anything that anyone can dream up, can be created.
You can even sculpt a model of a human head.
Computer numerical controlled technology combined with robotic technology is a wonderful
thing. Without either the machining industry would not be where it is today. CNC machining is a
large part of the automotive industry, the aerospace industry, and others. These machines offer
engineers and machinists the ability to create anything needed to make the world operate
efficiently.
Having different axes to work with, machinists can create parts with precision and high
tolerances. Precise angles and precise cuts can be created within 1 to 100 microns, in most cases.
It can’t get much better than that. No longer do machinists have to turn cranks and handles and
manually operate these machines. The software programs control pretty much everything that
has to do with the machine.
The computer software programs have to be written by the programmers to incorporate the
different axes. This means that the programmer has to tell each axis what to do in the program.
Click HERE for more FREE Information on CNC Routers
http://cncrouterzone.org/
On a five-axis CNC machine, one does not have to use all of the axes. The programmer can write
the program to use the three basic axes and that’s all. The programmer specifically writes the
program to tell the X axis its job, the Y axis its job, the Z axis its job, and so on. If one axis is
accidently left out, that axis will not work.
The CNC Z axis is very important to the CNC machines. Without this axis, depth cannot be
created. Many projects, from woodworking to auto part making, require the use of the Z axis. If
you have any questions about the CNC Z axis or would like to learn more, contact any machinist
or your local CNC machine dealer. They will be able to help you learn the importance of the Z
axis.

portable machines are a great addition to any shop and can even help to add income into your
wallet.
There are several different companies who make these machines and with each company, there
are different options that are available. Some options include: different size motors, circular
interpolation, helical interpolation, automatic cycle, line-by-line cycle, liner interpolation, and
much more.
Servo motors are usually 2.5 horsepower. These motors still offer large rpm speeds and precision
that CNC machines are known for. These desktop CNC router machines come with computer
software that is designed to work with the machine.
If you already know CNC technology, computers, and graphics, then operating this machine to
its designed capabilities will be no problem. You may even be able to push the machine past its
intended capabilities and become even more creative. If you do not already have experience in

these areas, do not worry. The interface that is used is easy for learning and for operation. You
may not be able to take advantage of the machine’s capabilities fully; however, that will all come
with time. The more you use it, the more you will learn and in the end you will know your
machine inside and out. Then, you will be able to basically create anything that you want.
Just like with the larger CNC machines, these machines still operate on several different axes.
There are usually the basic 3 axes that are used: the X, Y and Z axis. This technology allows you
to even create 3D images and sculptures. You can truly develop and create anything that you can
think of with this machine.
These machines are designed for smaller projects and short run times. Do not expect to turn out
large production lines of products; That is just not within the machine’s capabilities. Small, short
projects are more like it.
To find the machine that it is right for you, you will want to shop around. There are different
sizes and different options available. You must have in mind what you intend to use the machine
for and then you have to make sure that the motor, rpm speed, and so on will allow you to
perform your job accurately. These machines are affordable, but you don’t want to waste your
money purchasing the wrong machine.

DIY CNC FOAM CUTTER
CNC foam cutters are usually used by architects who use them to cut and build architectural
mockups of buildings, and model makers who build toy airplanes or cars. This machine is perfect
for both of these jobs and is also perfect for many other hobbyists. The machine cuts fast and
accurately while using the technology that CNC machines are known for.
The CNC foam cutters usually use some kind of hot wire cutting technology. The wire basically
just slices through the foam on a cutting path that is indicated by the software program that is
supplied to the machine. You can basically create anything you want out of foam.
You can buy these machines from many different manufacturers. Each manufacturer offers
different options with their machines. To find out which CNC foam cutter is right for you, you
need to contact a dealer (or several) and ask questions. Explain to them what you plan on using
the machine for and they will be able to point you in the right direction.
On the other hand, creating your own CNC foam cutter can be just as easy. You will want to
have some kind of knowledge about mechanisms, blueprint reading, etc in order to create the
machine. But do not fret if you do not have this knowledge; just find someone who can help you.
Search the internet and locate plans for DIY CNC foam cutters. Do not settle on the first set of
plans that you find. Shop around, locate several. Then, look at them closely and determine which
one will work best for you. Narrow them down until you have the one that will work exactly to
meet your needs or the one that you can make slight modifications to so that it will work exactly
to meet your needs.
Get determined and stay focused on the project at hand. Many times, people plan to do things
and it never gets past the planning stage. Eventually, you will get to the point in the project when
you will be able to see the end. At this point, it will become very exciting and then you will not
be able to wait to get it finished. When you do finally finish it, not only will you have created a
machine that incorporates high tech technology of computer numeric control and robotics, you
will have a great sense of accomplished and a large amount of pride.
DIY CNC foam cutting machines can be a great asset to any shop. You will be able to take your
hobby to a further level. Model building will never be any easier, no matter what kind it is. You
definitely won’t regret investing your hard earned cash into a machine like this, even though it
may not be very much because these machines are fairly inexpensive.
So, what are you waiting for? Start searching for that perfect set of plans for your DIY CNC
foam cutting machine.

DIY CNC MILLING MACHINE
Parts for making your own CNC milling machine are readily available. Any dealer who handles
CNC machines will offer parts for those machines. You will be able to create a DIY CNC
milling machine no matter if you want a semi-portable machine or a very small table top
machine to do little projects.
Before developing or buying plans for a DIY CNC Milling machine, you must first decide what
size of machine you will need to perform the type of projects that you want to do. Going through
a project of this caliber requires a lot of time and money, so you will want to make sure that the
machine that you are going to build is the one that you need.
If you have any questions about performance and the size of the machine that you will need,
contact a CNC dealer. They will be able to answer any questions that you may have and will help
to point you in the right direction.
Look into DIY CNC kits. A lot of times kits are available to help you build CNC machines.
These kits, which may cost more than doing it without a kit, come with everything that you need
including: instructions, motor and brackets, and more. This could be a great alternative to
spending time trying to find the correct parts and then hoping that they will all work together.
These kits could also help you to save a lot of time in shopping for the parts and believe it or not,
the kits may be a cheaper alternative for you.
Having knowledge of circuitry, computers, programs, and how the machine should work will
definitely help you whenever you are trying to build your own CNC machine. If you do not have
an understanding of these components and technology, then making this machine work could
prove to be a headache. If you do it all right, then getting the type of CNC precision and
tolerance that the CNC machines are known for is possible. No, you’re not going to get the
precision and tolerances that the large counterparts to the smaller machines are getting. But, you
will get the precision and tolerances that the smaller machines are capable of. And, if you do
know your stuff (computers, circuitry, programs, etc) then pushing the machine beyond the limits
that it was intended for and creating new things is definitely possible. The possibilities for CNC
machines are endless.
One thing about it, creating a CNC milling machine yourself will give you a great sense of pride
and accomplishment. Not everyone can do it. Not everyone owns a machine that incorporates
robotic technology with computer numeric control technology. You will definitely have bragging
rights when you get your CNC milling machine built. When this happens, the DIY label will
definitely become yours. You will be the ultimate DIYer. So have fun and get started on creating
your own DIY CNC milling machine today.

HOBBY CNC ROUTERS
Hobby CNC routers offer the hobbyist, whether woodworking or model making, a great piece of
equipment with extensive technology for a very affordable price. Usually, hobby CNC routers
are small and are desktop/tabletop apparatuses. They are very portable and come in a large
variety of different sizes.
Hobby routers can be very
little machines that sit on
top of the counter or other
hobby routers can be a little
larger and have their own
tables and set up that sits out
in the middle of the shop
floor. The size of the hobby
CNC router that you need
will depend upon what type
of work you are planning on
doing with the machine.
Furniture builders may want
a larger machine while
model makers will probably
require one of the smaller
hobby CNC routers.
Before deciding on the
hobby CNC router that is
right for you, you will first
need to determine what
exactly it is that you will be
using the machine for and if
there is any possibility that
you may want to end up
doing larger projects in the
future. By determining this,
you know that the machine
that you are going to
purchase will be big enough
for you to begin with and if you have plans on expanding, then purchasing a larger hobby CNC
router will be your best bet.
Once you determine what size of router you will need, you will need to determine your budget.
Knowing how much you can spend on a machine like this will help you to determine what your
options are. When it comes to these types of routers, you have several options. They are:

Build one yourself
DIY CNC router kits
Purchase one ready to go
If you have knowledge of the CNC technology and have some sort of idea how machines work
in terms of circuitry, etc, then it would be easy for you to build a CNC router for yourself. You
can purchase plans that will give you the idea of where to begin and what path to take.
Next are the DIY CNC router kits. These kits are great if you are not for sure what parts you will
need, etc. These kits include everything that you need from the instructions to the brackets to
even the motor. They may cost you a little bit more than just buying the parts individually and
building it yourself. If you cannot weld, don’t worry. Sometimes you can purchase bolt together
kits.
Finally, purchasing one that is already ready to go may be more expensive, but it can save you a
lot of time and headache in the long run. Plan on spending a couple of thousand at least for the
better brands of the hobby CNC routers. Contact your local dealer and then do some comparison
shopping with other brands and on the internet. You may be able to find a more affordable
machine that will still allow you to do what you need it to.

CNC MACHINING AT HOME
CNC machining at home is possible and many people are already taking advantage of this
technology. Now, it is easier than ever to create those one-of-a-kind masterpieces for your home
or as gifts for others. No matter what type of hobby you have, whether it is woodworking or
model making, there is a CNC machine that can make your life a lot easier.
Computer numeric controlled technology and robotic technology may have been designed for
use in the aerospace industry, the machining industry, the automotive industry and much more,
but now you can take advantage of this technology as well.
From routers to mills, laser cutters, plasma cutters and more, there is a CNC machine that you
can incorporate into your hobby that will help you save time and become more creative.
Sculpting, tapering, cutting, and engraving are just some of the features that these machines can
help you do. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a machine to help you taper the ends of those chair legs
in much less time than it would take you to do it manually? Or, how about cutting wings for that
model airplane that you have been building?
These machines are basically computer controlled. All you have to do is download the program
onto the machine, set the machine up with the right tools and then press the start button. The
machine will take care of the rest for you. It will continue to turn that chair leg until the program
tells it to stop. You can be assured that when it does stop, the machine has created a piece of
work that is to the right specifications.
Having a machine like this will let you work faster. No longer will it take you hours, days or
even weeks to create whatever it is that you are working on. It can be done in a matter of an hour
or so. Wouldn’t that be great? While the machine is working its magic, you can work on other
things that you need to be doing. You don’t have to babysit the machine or stand there and turn
the cranks or the knobs.
CNC machining at home has never been easier. You can either build your own CNC machine,
purchase a DIY CNC machine kit that you weld or bolt together, or you can just go ahead and
purchase one that is already set up and ready to go. The choice is yours. Basically, no matter
what type of budget you are on, getting a CNC machine for your own little private shop has
never been easier.
For more information on CNC machining, search the internet. You can find loads of information
about hobby CNC machines and what they can help you with. Size does matter. Make sure that
you either create or purchase the right size machine that will be able to do the job that you need it
to. So, go ahead and join the CNC machining bandwagon and let this technology work for you
too.

RACK AND PINION CNC
Rack and Pinion in CNC technology usually refers to a CNC router and its design. The rack and
pinion design is one of the most common and least expensive drives that are available on the
market today. It generates linear motion from rotary motion. Obviously, rack and pinions are
noted for their simplicity and inexpensiveness.
Even though the cost efficiency and simple design of the rack and pinion makes it desirable for
many, it does have its limitations. Those limitations include:
The rack and pinion design requires that the motor turn over at a high speed in order to
generate enough power to drive the rack and pinion.
It takes a lot of the motor power in the system to overcome the friction that is caused by
the gear box that drives the apparatus which is only 75% efficient.
All of the friction that is created obviously causes wear and tear on any machine and its
parts. In this case, the friction not only causes wear of the machine but also it affects the
systems speed by lowering it, it affects the acceleration of the machine and of course, all
of that will affect the accuracy of the machine.
Making adjustments usually cause other problems. Tightening of the system causes more
friction and as stated above the performance level is lowered by doing so. Loosening of
the system only creates more “backlash”.
The rack is the long bar piece that has gear teeth cut into it. The pinion is actually what is called
a pinion gear. The gear turns and as it rolls the teeth in the gear catches the teeth in the rack
causing the pinion to roll up and down the rack. You can see how important this type of drive
can be in any computer numeric controlled machine where several different axes are used and
things are constantly sliding and turning in order for the machine to do its job properly.
Rack and pinion drives for CNC machines are used on a wide basis. Even though there may be
limitations to this type of drive, other factors of the mechanics of the machine can be looked at in
order to help out with the backlash or the wear on the gears. If may be that in some instances
you will have to replace the rack and pinion drives. This then falls under maintenance of the
machine.
You cannot expect to use a machine on a daily basis and with many of the CNC routers and other
machines, they are used in production lines and manufacturing plants. So, the machines are
definitely being used on a daily basis and during each day of operation, they are being ran, more
than likely, to maximum performance. With this type of machining, wear and tear is just a
normal aspect and will have to be dealt with. If that means having to replace a rack and pinion
drive every so many years, that’s still better than having to replace the entire machine.
