The theory of signs first set forth by Charles Morris. Semiotic describes relationships between signs and their referents and its effect on the process of creating purposeful signs, symbols, and messages.
The relationship among signs and symbols and the objects they represent.
The study of the formal properties of signs and symbols and their relationships to other signs.
Images are not literal or realistic visual representations of actual objects, people, or environments. Abstract Symbols such as pictographs have a general likeness to the original subject so that the viewers associate them with the real object, person, or environment.
