Dear Parent/Guardian,
Rollins College proudly celebrates its 45th year sponsoring the Summer Camp program. This year’s camp is packed full of unique and exci ng adventures for your camper. The tradi onal day camp is open to children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade, as of June 2012.
The goal of the Rollins College Summer Camp program is to combine interes ng, hands‐on ac vi es with innova ve course content to create a rewarding educa onal camp experience. Courses are designed to enhance each camper’s ability to discover new areas of interest and strengthen academic progress. Each course provides in‐depth subject explora on while maintaining a fun summer camp atmosphere. We hope to help each camper develop an apprecia on for lifelong learning, make new friends, and renew exis ng rela onships.
No other program in Central Florida offers your child the opportunity to experience learning in such an outstanding collegiate environment. Rollins College is ranked as one of the finest liberal arts colleges in the na on. This level of excellence is the founda on upon which we base our standards for the Rollins Summer Camp program.
All camp staff members have been screened and meet the highest standard of excellence, providing your child a safe and rewarding summer. Orienta on Informa on
Summer Camp Orienta on/Open House We would like to invite Camper’s and their Parents/Guardians and Guests to visit our Summer Camp, meet with our Camp Leadership team, Class Instructors and Counselors and tour the camp with their campers! When: June 11th, 2012 Check‐in at Camp Base will begin at 4:00p.m. and will conclude at 6:00pm. Please arrive during this me to meet with our Leadership Team, receive important informa on regarding camp and ask any ques ons you might have regarding camp. Once you pick up your camper’s schedules and other materials please feel free to tour the camp with your camper mee ng with your camper’s instructors as well as counselors that will be available to assist you. Camp staff will be available un l 6:30pm. Please park in the SunTrust parking garage (Lyman/Park Avenue) and walk to campus. Follow the signs to Camp Base. Bring your parking garage cket so it may be validated when you pick up your camper’s schedule and name tag. If you cannot a end this important Open House, please visit the camp Web site for important announcements, which will be posted a few days prior to the first day of camp. If your camper is not a ending the first day of camp, please do not pick up their schedule or name tag. Both the schedule and name tag will be distributed on the first day the camper a ends.

Snacks
Please send a snack with your camper each day. The instructors will allot me for snacks during the 2nd class of the day.
One a ernoon snack will be provided for each camper during P.M. Supervised Recrea on only.
Lunches
The lunch program is included in the cost of tui on. Vegetarian op ons are available on a daily basis. Please visit our Web site for the lunch menu.

Camp Safety Camp safety is our top priority. Children are accompanied by their instructors or counselors at all mes. Campers are lead by their counselors to every class, and the same walking routes are taken daily. All staff members have been carefully screened in accordance with Florida State Law.

Camper Checklist
Visi ng your Camper You may visit your camper any me during camp; there is no specific parent’s day. You must check in at Camp Base to receive a visitor badge and you will be informed of your camper’s loca on at that me. You must check‐out at Camp Base prior to leaving. Please do not take your camper home without signing out at Camp Base.
Parking 15 minute parking spaces are located at Camp Base. For longer parking, park in the SunTrust Parking Garage (Lyman/Park Avenue). Bring your parking cket for valida on.

A $250 non‐refundable tui on down payment is required and will be applied to the tui on balance. See the Fees & Payments sec on of our Web site for due dates.

Payments
• Final payments for Session A are due by April 27, 2012. • Final payments for Session B are due by May 25, 2012.
If full payment is not received by the published dates, your camper’s registra on will be released.
Payments may be made by check or money order in person, or by mail. Online payments may be made with an e‐Check (electronic check), MasterCard, Discover, or American Express only. Please visit the Fees & Payments sec on on our Web site for online payment instruc ons and service charges.
By registering your camper, the parent/guardian agrees to bear responsibility for full payment, and should a payment be returned for insufficient funds or no approval by credit, the parent/guardian agrees to pay for all fees associated with collec on of due funds, including a orney’s fees.
All requests for refunds and cancella ons must be submi ed in wri ng. A request may be e‐mailed or mailed to the Rollins College Summer Camp program.

Cancella ons made within the first week of each camp session will receive a 25% tui on refund, a er the deduc on of the $250 non‐refundable deposit.
Refunds or credits will not be issued a er the first week of camp, for “no shows” or missed days of camp, or if a camper is dismissed from the camp.

How to Build a Schedule & Register
Please note: Our Registra on process has changed, please check website for details.
Determine the camper’s age group: Voyagers, Trailblazers, or Pathfinders. Review each of the curriculum sec ons: The Arts, Enrichment, and Sports.
Locate courses offered for your child’s age group. We recommend a balance between the three.
All Voyagers, Trailblazers, and Pathfinders are required to take four courses. A.M./P.M. Supervised Recrea on and A.M. Swimming/Tennis classes are op onal.
Select the courses your camper would like to a end. Make sure you choose two alternate courses per me slot; this will expedite the registra on process. Visit the Summer Camp Web site on the appropriate date and click on the How to Register link or follow the instruc ons provided.
Online registra on for all campers is required. The Summer Camp Administra on Office will be open for assistance from 9:00am—4:00pm. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 for returning campers and siblings, and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012 for new campers. The Administra on Office is located at 422 W. Fairbanks Avenue, Winter Park, Florida 32789. For assistance by phone please contact the Summer Camp Administra on Office at (407)646‐2576.
Wait List
In the event that a class you would like to enroll in is full, your camper will automa cally be put on the Wait List.
If a space opens in a class, the first person on the Wait List for that class will be automa cally added to the class and the parent(s)/guardians(s) will be no fied of the change via email.
Campers on the Wait List take precedence over any schedule adjust‐ment requests made during the first two days of camp.
Your camper may be added to the Wait List for mul ple classes. If you have any ques ons regarding your camper’s status, please

Schedule Adjustments
We make every a empt to accommodate requests for schedule adjustments. Requests must be presented in wri ng or in person. Schedule Adjustment forms are available under the Resources sec on of the Camp Web site.
Once camp has started, schedule adjustments will only be accepted during the first two days of each camp session.
Schedule Adjustments for Session A will be accepted during office hours (8:30 a.m. ‐ 5:00 p.m.) on June 12, 2012 and June 13, 2012. The campers’ new class schedules will take effect on Thursday, June 14.
Schedule Adjustments for Session B will be accepted during office hours (8:30 a.m. ‐ 5:00 p.m.) on July 9, 2012 and July 10, 2012. The campers’ new class schedules will take effect on Wednesday, July 11.
The first schedule adjustment completed (per camper) is complimentary. Subsequent schedule adjustments will incur an administra ve fee of $25 per adjustment. (This fee does not apply to schedule adjustments from Wait Lists.)

Friday Spirit Days
Fridays are Spirit Days at Rollins Camp. Each Friday has a different theme for which the campers dress up. Themes will be announced prior to the start of Camp (Note: Face masks are not permi ed.)

The Arts
Art (V) Calling all budding ar sts! Join us for a journey through me to explore a variety of art styles and the ar sts behind the masterpieces. An assortment of art mediums will be used ‐ drawing, pain ng, and mixed media. 3D Art (New Class!) (T,P) This course will allow each camper to express themselves using 3D art techniques including foam, clay and plaster. Campers will also learn about ar sts, including famous sculptors and other ar sts that use 3D techniques. Circus (V) Come join the circus! Learn to walk a ght rope, juggle, and clown around. Campers will create colorful rou nes and entertain others. Improv Theater (T,P) This course will develop and enhance each camper’s unique theatrical ability. Listening skills and memory will be enhanced through improvisa on techniques and games.

Enrichment Aeronau cs (V,T,P) Blast off with aeronau cs! This “out of this world” class will answer intriguing ques ons about avia on and aerospace. Campers will begin the class making their own paper airplanes, and will end by launching their own rockets! Board Game Bonanza (New Class!) (V,T,P) Think outside the box! Crea ve thinking and problem‐solving skills are developed using entertaining and thought‐provoking games and puzzles. Campers will build analy cal skills as they learn how to devise strategies to be successful game players and puzzle solvers. Each camper will also create their own board game. Book Club (V,T,P) Campers will sharpen their reading and comprehension skills while engaging in discussions and hands‐on ac vi es to bring the book to life. Text tles will be published prior to the start of camp (check the Web site in May). One copy of each book will be provided to the camper. Campers in the Kitchen (V,T) Measure in one cup cooking instruc on, fold in a pinch of fun, and sprinkle in nutri onal facts about the food pyramid. Blend all ingredients together to create a learning experience that will help campers make healthy food choices. This class will incorporate measuring skills, teamwork strategies, and proper dining e que e.

Enrichment Cont’d Movie Makers (P) ‐ offered Session A only Explore the media world and unleash your crea vity! Campers will create digital media produc ons while working out of the Rollins television studio. Please note this class is only offered in 2 hour increments, so it will take up two back to back classes on your camper’s schedule. Music Apprecia on (New Class!) (V,T,P) ‐ Session B only Campers will learn how to read music and other musical concepts in a fun, interac ve environment. Campers will also have the opportunity to learn more about musical history and famous composers and musicians. (This class is structured for camper’s with no or limited musical knowledge)

Physical Fitness (V,T,P) This class will teach campers healthy habits in an ac ve, fun environment. Campers will learn how exercise and a healthy lifestyle can impact their overall health. Sailing & Canoeing* (T,P) Campers will gain understanding of the fundamentals of sailing. Instruc on will take place on beau ful Lake Virginia. Water safety is emphasized; life jackets are worn at all mes while on the lake. Basic swimming skills required. Swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen required. *Campers must be at least 8 years old to par cipate. *This class is also offered in the A.M. prior to Camp each day from 8am—9am , the AM class has a one me fee of $255 per session, per child. Advanced Sailing & Canoeing* (P) This program is designed for the advanced boater. Swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen required. *Campers must have previously taken a Rollins Sailing & Canoeing course and be at least 8 years old. Swimming (V,T,P) This mul ‐level course will introduce beginners to the basics, as well as challenge the advanced swimmer. Cer fied lifeguards and instructors will be present at all sessions. Classes u lize Red Cross’ “Learn to Swim” program. Swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen required. Beginner’s Swimming* (V,T,P) This course is geared toward the beginner swimmer of all ages. Basic swim techniques and water safety are emphasized. Classes u lize Red Cross’ “Learn to Swim” program. Swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen required. *Addi onal op on. This class meets from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and has a one‐ me fee of $255 per session, per child.

Compe ve Swimming* (V, T, P) This course will emphasize various swimming techniques for experienced swimmers. Campers will engage in compe on‐style drills. Swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen required. *Addi onal op on. This class meets from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and has a one‐ me fee of $255per session, per child. Team Sports (V,T,P) Come out and play! A variety of games, such as co‐ed flag football, kickball, and other similar games will be played. Campers will build skills such as eye‐hand/eye‐foot coordina on, balance, and agility. Special emphasis will be placed on teamwork, group strategy, coopera on, sportsmanship, self‐esteem, and fun!
Tennis (V,T,P) Classes are structured for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Young athletes will learn the rules of the game, including court e que e. This course will include instruc on in forehand and backhand strokes, serves, volley, overhead smash, and footwork. Tennis racket required.
Beginner’s Tennis* (V,T,P) This course emphasizes beginning tennis techniques. All ages welcome! Tennis racket required. *Addi onal op on. This class meets from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and has a one‐ me fee of $255 per session, per child.
Compe ve Tennis* (T,P) Take your tennis skills to the next level! This course will emphasize various tennis techniques for experienced tennis players. Campers will engage in tournament‐style play.
