What is Embedded System
An embedded system is a computer system designed
for specific control functions within a larger system.
It is embedded as part of a complete device often
including hardware and mechanical parts. Embedded systems control many devices in common
use today.
Embedded systems contain processing cores that are
typically either microcontrollers or digital signalprocessors.

Hearing Aid
Digital Signal Processor As mentioned earlier, the data (voice, image, video,
electric signal & other measurable quantities) collected by
embedded systems may be used for various kinds of data
processing. Embedded system with signal processor functionalities
are employed in applications demanding signal
processing like speech coding, synthesis, audio-video
codec, transmission applications, etc.
A digital hearing aid is a typical example of an embedded
system employing data processing.
Digital hearing aid improves the hearing capacity of
hearing impaired persons.

Main Causes of Hearing loss
Very loud noise - Listening to loud noise for
long periods of time can damage the hair cells in
the inner ear.
Mobiles - High frequency and radiation
emitted from it affects hearing permantatly.
Age.
Earwax. Ototoxic medicines.
Injury to the ear or head.
Ear infection.

Hearing Aid
Hearing aids are small devices designed to help those with hearingimpairment to enjoy improved communication.
These devices enhance sound and enable the wearer to hear the
natural sounds being made even through impaired hearing.
There are a number of different types of hearing aids, and they all
work along the same principles, although some are more
sophisticated or offer more features than others.

Working Principle Of Hearing Aid
Microphone A microphone picks up sound from
the environment and converts it into an electricalsignal, which it sends to the amplifier.
Amplifier
An amplifier increases the volumeof the sound and sends it to the speaker.

Speaker
speaker changes the electrical
signal back into sound and sends it into theear. Then those impulses are sent to the brain.
Battery -
The battery powers the electroniccomponents. The battery compartment is used
to turn the hearing aid on and off.

Some models have a volume control to regulate
the volume.
Others have a program control, enabling you to
change the processing for different listening
situations, such as high background noise or
music. These controls are available on the hearing aids or
on a remote control.

By using hearing aid even a deaf person can hear. The hearing aid can emmit frequency of 10,000hz and
more.
