3. ALL METAL FITTINGS AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE INSTALLED WITH ONE(1) NINE POUND (9 LB) HIGH POTENTIAL MAGNESIUM ANODE BONDED TO THEMETAL. ONE (1) ANODE FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL FITTING OR APPURTENANCESHALL BE REQUIRED. UP TO THREE FITTINGS MAY BE GROUPED TOGETHERWITH A SINGLE ANODE. ALL ANODES SHALL BE FURNISHED AND INSTALLEDBY THE CONTRACTOR.
4. INSTALL TEST STATIONS WHERE SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. TEST STATIONLOCATION MAY VARY DUE TO SITE CONDITIONS AND CONTRACTINGOFFICER DIRECTIONS.
5. ALL MAGNESIUM, SACRIFICIAL ANODES WILL COMPLY WITH THEREQUIREMENTS OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS TITLE 49, U.S.DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PART 192.
6. ALL ANODES WILL BE BAGGED. BAGGED ANODES WILL BE PACKAGED INCLOSELY WOVEN, PERMEABLE, CLOTH WITH AT LEAST ONE INCH OF WELLCOMPACTED BACKFILL.

8. ANODES TO BE INSTALLED A MINIMUM OF 15 FOOT DISTANCE AWAY FROMANY FOREIGN METALLIC NATURAL GAS LINE OR WATERLINE CROSSINGS.
9. LEAD WIRES SHALL BE EXOTHERMAL (CADWELD) WELDED TO METALFITTINGS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE WELDINGEQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER. REMOVE A SMALL PORTION OF COATING ASNECESSARY FOR WELD. REPAIR COATING PER SPECIFICATIONS.
10. ALL LEADS ENTERING TEST STATIONS WILL HAVE SUFFICIENT COILEDSLACK TO FACILITATE COVER REMOVAL FOR TESTING.
11. AVOID ELECTRICAL CONTACT BETWEEN PROTECTED STRUCTURE ANDSTRUCTURAL REBAR, CONDUITS AND OTHER FOREIGN METALLICSTRUCTURES.
12. INSULATING FLANGE KITS, DIELECTRIC UNIONS OR OTHER PIPELINEINSULATORS SHALL BE INSTALLED WHERE NEW METALLIC FITTINGS ARECONNECTED INTO EXISTING WATER AND GAS LINES THAT ARE METALLIC.WHERE INSULATORS ARE INSTALLED UNDERGROUND, INSTALL TWO (2)ADDITIONAL #12 LEADS TO THE EXISTING METALLIC LINES. THEINSTALLATION CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING A LOG OF ALLANODES AND TEST STATIONS WITH THEIR DIMENSIONED LOCATIONS. LOGWILL BE SUBMITTED TO CONTRACTING OFFICER WITH RECORD DRAWINGS.
13. INSTALLATION CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE CONSTRUCTION WITHCONTRACTING OFFICER SUCH THAT TESTING AND INSPECTION CAN BECONVENIENTLY COMPLETED.

GRADING AND EROSION CONTROL GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE REVEGETATED USING THE SEEDING MIX SHOWN IN THESPECIFICATIONS.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE AT LEAST ONE (1) SIGNED COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS AND ATLEAST ONE (1) COPY OF THE APPROPRIATE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS ANDSPECIFICATIONS AT THE JOB SITE OR AT THEIR OFFICE AT ALL TIMES. MANUALS SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOTBE LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
A. CITY OF COLORADO SPRINGS/EL PASO COUNTY DRAINAGE CRITERIA MANUAL, VOLUMES 1 AND 2
3. INITIAL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ARE TO BE IN PLACE PRIOR TO MOVEMENT OF ANY DIRT IN THEPROPOSED DISTURBED AREAS.
4. EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS:
INITIAL: PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION ON PORTIONS OF THIS SITE, INITIAL BMP'S INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITEDTO SILT FENCE, SHALL BE INSTALLED ALONG THE SECTION OF WATERMAIN TO BE CONSTRUCTED.
CONSTRUCTION: EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED IN A MANNER THAT WILLPROTECT ADJACENT PROPERTIES AND PUBLIC FACILITIES FROM ADVERSE EFFECTS OF EROSION ANDSEDIMENTATION AS A RESULT OF CONSTRUCTION AND EARTHWORK ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE PROJECT SITE.
PERMANENT: PERMANENT BMP'S INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO SEEDING, WADDLES AND SHALL BECONSTRUCTED AFTER CONSTRUCTION IS DONE AND CONSTRUCTION BMP'S ARE IN PLACE, OR AS NEEDEDBASED ON THE PHASING OF THE PROJECT.
5. MATERIAL HANDLING AND SPILL PREVENTION:THE MOST PROBABLE SOURCE OF NON-STORMWATER POLLUTION IS REFUELING AND DAILY MAINTENANCEOPERATIONS. IF MOBILE FUEL TRUCKS ARE USED TO SERVICE EQUIPMENT, ABSORBENT MATERIALS ANDCONTAINERS FOR THE STORAGE OF USED ABSORBENT MATERIAL WILL BE CLOSE BY. IF A FUEL TANK ISLEFT ON SITE, BERMS WILL BE BUILT AROUND THE TANK TO CAPTURE ANY SPILLED FUEL.
6. FINAL STABILIZATION AND LONG TERM STORMWATER MANAGEMENT:ONCE THE DISTURBED AREAS ARE 70% ESTABLISHED WITH VEGETATION, THE INLET PROTECTION AND SILTFENCES ON THE SITE MAY BE REMOVED.
7. INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE:A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF THE STORMWATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM SHALL BE PERFORMED EVERY 14DAYS AS WELL AS AFTER ANY RAIN OR SNOWMELT EVENT THAT CAUSES SURFACE EROSION.EROSION OF CHANNELS AND SIDE SLOPES SHALL BE REPAIRED. WHEN STRAW BALE CHECK DAMS ORWADDLES HAVE SILTED UP TO HALF THEIR HEIGHT, THE SILT SHALL BE REMOVED, CHANNEL GRADEREESTABLISHED AND SIDE SLOPES RESEEDED IF NECESSARY. ANY STRAW BALES THAT HAVE SHIFTED ORDECAYED SHALL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. SILT FENCES SHALL BE CLEANED WHENEVER SEDIMENTHAS REACHED A DEPTH OF 6" AT THE FENCE, AND BROKEN WOODEN PARTS OR TORN FABRIC SHALL BEREPAIRED OR REPLACED. ANY ACCUMULATED TRASH OR DEBRIS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM OUTLETS. ANINSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE LOG FOLLOWS THIS STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN.
8. THE GRADING OF THE DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE DONE TO MINIMIZE DISTURBED AREAS AS MUCH ASPOSSIBLE PRIOR TO SEEDING/MULCHING.
GRADING AND EROSION CONTROL SPECIFIC NOTES
1. IN AREAS THAT ARE RELATIVELY FLAT, EXISTING GRASS BUFFERS CAN BE USED AS A BMP IN LIEU OFSILT FENCE. REVIEW THESE AREAS ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS.
2. SEE SPECIFICATIONS FOR SILT FENCE AND OTHER BMP INSTALLATION DETAILS
