The debug commands on the devices will affect the performance of the devices, whichmay bring serious consequences. So take care to use debug commands. Especially, thedebug all command will open all debug processes, so this command must not be used onthe devices with services. The ZXR10 2918E-LE/2928E-LE/2952E-LE and the corresponding ZXR10 2918E/2928E/2952E have the same contents except names.
The ZXR10 2900E series switch is the easy-maintenance secure switch developed byZTE independently. The ZXR10 2900E series switch provides 100M access and supportsingress/egress ACL. It is used in education network access layer, enterprise networkaccess layer, political service network access layer and carrier building access layer.
Depending on switch capacity, the ZXR10 2900E series switch includes six products:l ZXR10 2918El ZXR10 2928El ZXR10 2952El ZXR10 2910E-PSl ZXR10 2918E-PSl ZXR10 2928E-PS
Product Features
The ZXR10 2900E series switch is environment friendly, safe, highly reliable, and easy tomaintain, which brings enjoyable experience to customers.
l Environment-friendly energy-saving design
Due to dynamic fan speed adjustment, intelligent power supply management, andreasonable PCB layout, the power of the series switch is reduced while the systemperformance is improved.
l Advanced lightning-protection technology
The series switch uses an advanced lightning-protection technology to minimize theprobability of damage in lightning weather. Thus the reliability is improved.
l Intelligent PoE supply

ZXR10 2900E Series Hardware Manual
TheZXR10 2900E series switch supports the simple Power over Ethernet (PoE)supply mode IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at. Each PoE port supplies up to 30W.The series switch can supply power for devices that need high power, such as thenew generation IP visual telephone, dual-frequency WiFi AP, visual monitor camera,multi-function STB, and RFID card reader. As a result, network complexity is reduced.
The ZXR10 2900E series switch can control power by time segment. As a result, thepower consumption of network devices is effectively managed and operation costsare greatly reduced.
The ZXR10 2900E series switch also provides the functions of overload protection,short circuit protection, and real-time power detection to protect powered devices andpower sourcing equipment and maintain a sound circuit system.
l Powerful security platform
The ZXR10 2900E series switch supports two-way ACL to provide double securityguarantee. To control the access to a server, you need only enable egress ACL onthe port connected to the server.
Even if an illegal user breaks through the security system of a firewall, the user stillcannot attack the internal server.
l Abundant maintenance methods
Remote upgrades in batch mode: Lots of devices of the same type can be upgradedin batch mode. As a result, various network problems due to minor errors can beavoided.
Cluster management: On the master switch, you can view the statuses of otherswitches.
Power-down alarm: After a device is powered down, a power-down alarm isautomatically reported to the management center.
Multiple remote management methods: include Web, Telnet, and SNMP.
M-button: allows you to easily learn the operational statuses of switches.
2.2 FunctionsThe ZXR10 2900E series switch has the following functions:
l It supports the port duplex, speed, auto-negotiation, jumbo frame and line orderidentification configuration.
l It supports port–based VLAN.l It supports PVLAN, VLAN translation, QinQ and SQinQ.l It supports MAC line rate learning, port address number limit, port address fix and
manual MAC management.l It supports layer 2 line rate switching.l It supports ingress ACL, egress ACL and QoS.l It supports layer 2 multicast and IPTV.

3.1 Hardware StructureThe ZXR10 2900E adopts the box structure and is 1U (1U=44.45 mm) high. The hardwareincludes the box, power supply device, the Ethernet switching main board, and fans.
Box Body
The box is mainly composed of chassis and shell with light weight and simple structure,which is convenient for installation and disassembly.
On the front panel of ZXR10 2918E/2928E/2910E-PS/2918E-PS, there are AC or DCpower supply interface, power supply switch, service interfaces, interface status indicator,serial configuration port and system status indicators. On the back panel of ZXR102918E-PS, there are RPS power interface.
On the front panel of ZXR10 2952E, there are service interfaces, interface status indicator,serial configuration port and system status indicators. On the back panel , there are AC orDC power supply interface and power supply switch.
ZXR10 2928E-PS provides service ports, uplink interface slots, port status indicators,management network ports, serial configuration interfaces, mode button and systemstatus indicators on the front panel. In addition, ZXR10 2928E-PS provides 1 fan moduleslot and 2 slots for modularized power supplies which have switches on the rear panel.Both the modularized power supplies and fan modules support hot swap.
Power Supply
The power supply is separately provided. It supports -48V DC or 110V/220V AC. Inaddition, ZXR10 2918E-PS supports RPS power input.
ZXR10 2928E-PS supports two input power modules. You can configure single-module ordual-module power supply as required. The switch supports 110V/220V AC power supply,and power modules are hot-swappable.
For the power module of the ZXR10 2900E, pay attention to the following points:
l The structure and interfaces of the power module on the shelf vary with the powerinput mode.

l During operations and maintenance, avoid performing any operation on the powermodule when the power module is supplied with power.
l For the AC power mode, the system only supports single-phase.
Ethernet Switching Main Board
Ethernet switching main board is the core hardware of ZXR102910E-PS/2918E-PS/2928E-PS/2918E/2928E/2952E, which implements the switchingand forwarding function of switch.
Heat Dissipation System
The ZXR10 2918E/2928E/2952E uses natural cooling mode with vent hole configured onback and two sides of these devices.
The ZXR10 2910E-PS and ZXR10 2918E-PS uses air extraction for heat dissipation.The system supports the functions of automatically adjusting the fan speed based on theoperating and environmental conditions, fan status monitoring, and fault alarming. Forthe technical parameters of fans, refer to Table 3-1.

The ZXR10 2928E-PS uses active air cooling for heat dissipation. A heat dissipation fanmodule is installed on the rear panel of the switch, and two speed-adjustable fans canbe installed. The fan module is hot-swappable and speed-adjustable. For the technicalparameters of fans, refer to Table 3-2.

Device Appearance
ZXR10 2918E is 1U (1U=44.45 mm) high. It provides AC and DC power supplies.

Power Supply
ZXR10 2918E supports two power supply modes: -48 V DC power supply and 110 V/220V AC power supply. When the -48 V DC power supply is used, use –48 V DC power cable.When the AC power supply is used, use AC power cables.

Indicators
The following indicators are used on the ZXR10 2918E.
l 16 indicators indicate the statuses of the 16 10/100Base-TX ports. Each interfacecorresponds to one indicator.
l Four indicators indicate the statuses of two Combo interfaces (the RJ45 port andSFP port with the same port number are Combo ports for each other). Each10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet interface has two indicators. The left indicator indicatesthe status of the interface below. The right indicator indicates the status of interfaceabove. Each SFP port has one indicator indicating port status.
l Three system indicators.
Indicators running statuses are described as follows:
1. System indicator
System indicators include power indicator (PWR), running indicator (SYS) and alarmindicator (ALM).
l After the system is powered up, the PWR indicator is on and the SYS indicator ison.
l When Boot starts to load the version, if the version is unavailable, the states ofindicators do not change. If the version is loaded normally, the SYS indicatorflashes at a frequency of one time per second.
The ZXR10 2918E system indicators are listed as Table 3-4.

2. Port indicator
There is a M_button on the front panel. The mode is selected according to modebutton. The corresponding port state indicator will turn on, which makes it convenientto maintain our equipments.

l 24 indicators indicate the status of the 24 10/100Base-TX ports. Each interfacecorresponds one indicator.
l Four indicators show the status of two Combo ports (the RJ45 port and SFP port withthe same port number are Combo ports for each other). Each 10/100/1000Base-TEthernet port has two indicators. ZXR10 2928E-PS utilizes a modularized power supply and it supports one or two ACmodularized power supplies (used simultaneously) which are available for hot swap. If110V/220V AC power is used, use AC power cables.
The sockets and switch for the AC power supplies are located on the rear panel of thedevice, see Figure 3-16.

Installation Steps
Caution!
Correctly connecting the switch ground wire is crucial to the lightning protection andelectromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) of a switch.
The power input end of the switch is connected to a noise filter, whose central groundis directly connected to the chassis, forming the chassis ground (commonly known asPGND). This chassis ground must be securely connected to the earth ground so that thefaradism and leakage electricity can be safely released to the ground, enhancing the EMScapability of the switch.
The correct grounding methods are as below:
l If a grounding strip is available on the installation site, attach one end of theyellow/green ground wire of the switch to the grounding screw on the grounding stripand fasten the captive nut, see Figure 3-28. (Note that the fire main and lightning rodof a building are not suitable for grounding the switch. The ground wire of the switchshould be connected to the grounding device for the equipment room).

OverviewOptical fiber is a communication medium that uses a bundle of thin glass rods to transmitthe modulated light. There are two fiber types: single mode fiber and multimode fiber. l single mode fiber: transmitting signals by using the single mode of light; used forlong-distance transmission; usually named as the 50/125 um or 62.5/125 um fiber.
Each fiber cable is composed of five parts: fiber core, cladding layer, buffer layer,strengthening layer and outer jacket. Fiber core is the optical transmission componentlocated at the cable core. It is usually made of silicon or glass. The chemical compositionsof fiber core are partially different from those of the cladding layer, so that the lightentering at a specified angle would be reflected continuously by fiber core and claddinglayer. Therefore, light remains in the fiber core during the whole transmission process.
The Physical cross-sectional area of a fiber cable is shown in Figure 3-34. The figureshows the location of the five components.

Laser Usage Safety
The ZXR10 2900E series Ethernet switch belongs to type I laser equipment.
If an optical interface of the ZXR10 2900E series switch is in working state, do not look atthe interface directly. The beam emitted by the fiber has very great energy, and looking atit directly will damage your retina.
Note:
It will hurt your eyes to have eye contact with laser beams of optical fiber.
Fiber Installation
Each optical interface of the ZXR10 2900E can be connected to an SFP module. Forthe supported rates, refer to the model description. Two types of fibers are available:single-mode fiber andmulti-mode fiber. User can configure the fiber according to the actualapplication. Table 3-38 shows 6 types of fiber.

4.3 Cable LayingThe ZXR10 2900E cables consist of group wire, power cable, serial console cable, networkcable and fiber.
4.3.1 Installation Specifications
Installation Specifications for Power Cables and Grounding Cables
l Layout Principles
Power cables are straight and with smooth arcs at turning sections.
No connecting or wielding point exists in the middle of a power cable.
The extra part of a cable is cut off, instead of being coiled.
The bending radius at a turning section of a power cable is 5 times greater than thecable diameter.
Power cables are laid properly, without crossing, coiling, or twisting.
Before a signal cable is installed, a connectivity test must be carried out. Both endsof the signal cable are attached with marks or engineering tags.
Power cables and signaling cables are separated by at least 300mm. Do not bindthem together.
For an optical fiber, the turning radius is not less than 4cm.
l Binding Principles
Power cables and signal cables are bound separately.
The binding interval of power cables is 200mm.
Do not let turning components (such as a door) press or drag the cables, and bindingis not allowed at turning sections.
Wire fasteners are facing the same direction. Cut the excessive part after binding,and the cutting is even.
l Overhead Cabling Principle
In overhead cabling mode, the cables are routed out of the top of the DC powerdistribution cabinet to the top of each device cabinet through a cable try.
l Raised-floor Cabling Principle
In raised-floor cabling mode, the cables are routed out of the bottom of the DC powerdistribution cabinet to the bottom of each device cabinet through the anti-static floor.
Installation Steps
1. Plan the cabling path.
When planning the cabling path, take future expansion into consideration, so that thesystem can still operate properly after expansion.

2. Install protective grounding cables and power cables.
Before installing power cables, ensure that the protective grounding cables of theswitch contact the earth well. For details of how to install grounding cables and powercables, refer to Section 3.2 "Cables".
3. Install signal cables.l Install configuration cables.l Lay network cables.l Lay optical fibers.
For details of how to install signal cables, refer to Section 3.2 "Cables".
4.3.2 Power-on ProcedureCheck the lab environment and hardware installation before power-on ZXR10 2900E.
1. To make sure that the switch operates normally and has a normal service life, thecertain temperature and humidity of equipment room should be maintained.l If the humidity of the equipment room has been too high for a long time,
leakage will happen or the insulating function will not good. Sometimes materialmechanical feature will change or metal components will rust. If the relativehumidity is too low, the insulating pad will shrink and cause loose of fastenedscrew. At the same time, static will happen which endangers the circuit of switch.
l The harm of high temperature is larger. The longtime high temperature will speedthe aging process of insulating material, which reduces the reliability of switch andaffects the life of the switch.
2. Check whether the power cable and other cables are connected correctly and reliably.3. Check other hardware.
a. Check whether devices are labeled completely, correctly and clearly.
b. Check whether the switch is firmly installed in a 19-inch standard rack or ondesktop.
c. Check whether rack has a good contact and whether the earthing resistancemeetstechnical requirements.
4. Power on ZXR10 2900E in the following steps:
a. Connect the switch AC power cable.
b. Turn on the external power supply.
5. Power off ZXR10 2900E in the following steps:
a. Turn off the external power supply.
b. Disconnect the switch AC power cable.

4.4 Lightning Protection of the Switch(Optional)
4.4.1 Installation of Lightning Arrester for AC Power
Caution!
Lightning arrester will not be delivered with the switch. You should purchase it if needed.
If an outdoor AC power cord should be directly led to the switch, serially connect thelightning arrester for AC power (Socket Strip with Lightning Protection) before you plugthe AC power cord into the switch, thus to prevent possible damages to the switch due tolightning strike. You can use cable clips and screws to fasten the lightning arrester for ACpower on the cabinet, workbench or the wall of equipment room. A lightning arrester isshown as Figure 4-11.

1. Multipurpose socket:connects the device power.
2. Standard socket: connectsthe equipment room powerthrough a power cable.
3. Grounding alarm indicator:indicates whether thepower has PE. If yes, theindicator is off. Otherwise,the indicator is on.
4. Reversed polarity indicator:indicates whether L and Nare connected reversely.If yes, the indicator is on.Otherwise, the indicator isoff.
5. Lightning protectionindicator: indicates whetherthe lightning protectionfunction is normal. If yes,
the indicator is green.Otherwise, the indicator isred.

Caution!l Make sure that the arrester is well grounded before using the lightning arrester for
power.l After inserting AC power cord plug of switch into the socket of lightning arrester, if the
green LED is on and the red LED does not alarm, it means that the lightning arresterof power is running and the function of lightning protection has taken effect.
l When the arrester is installed, users should install and debug according to theinstruction to arrester and comply with the engineering technical requirementsin GB50343 Building Electronic Information System lightning- proof TechnologySpecification and YD/T5098 Telecommunication Bureaus (Stations) LightingOvervoltage Protection Engineering Design Specification, which ensures reasonablegrounding, bonding and isoelectric connection.
l The security of lightning- proof system should be checked regularly such as the checkbefore and after each thunderstorm season including if the lightning- proof moduleof device is damaged or performance is not good, if the bonding performance ofconnection is not good. If these conditions above happen, please change or handlein time.
4.4.2 Installation of Lightning Arrester for Network Port
Note:
Lightning arrester for network port is specially designed for the Ethernet port of 10/100Melectrical interface (RJ-45 connector is used in this case).
Caution!
Lightning arrester for network port will not be provided along with the switch, and youshould purchase it if needed.
If an outdoor network cable should be led to the switch, serially connect the lightningarrester for network port before you plug this cable into the interface on the switch, incase of the possibility that the switch may be damaged due to lightning strike.

Installation procedure
1. Tear the protection paper at one side of the double faced adhesive tape apart from thetape, and stick the tape on the surface of the arrester. Tear the protection paper atanother side apart from the tape, and stick the arrester onto the chassis of the switch.The arrester should be attached on the chassis as close to the grounding screw aspossible.
2. According to the distance to the grounding screw of the switch, cut the ground wireof the arrester, and securely tightening its ground wire to the grounding screw of theswitch.
3. Use a multimeter to measure whether the ground wire of the arrester contacts wellwith the grounding screw of chassis.
4. According to the instruction of arrester for network port, connect the arrester with switchby the cables (be carefully with the cable direction. Outdoor network cable should beinserted into the arrester‘s IN end, and the cable connected to the switch should beinserted into the arrester’s OUT end). When you do that, observe whether the arresterindicators normally display.
Note:
When an arrester is installed, users should install and debug according to theinstruction to arrester and comply with the engineering technical requirementsin GB50343 Building Electronic Information System lightning- proof TechnologySpecification and YD/T5098 Telecommunication Bureaus (Stations) LightingOvervoltage Protection Engineering Design Specification, which ensures reasonablegrounding, bonding and isoelectric connection.
5. Use the nylon ties to bundle the cables neatly.

Installation precautions
Fully consider the following items in the installation process, otherwise, the performanceof the lightning arrester for network port will be affected:
l Lightning arrester for network port is installed in reverse direction. In practice, the“IN” end should be connected to the outdoor network cable and the “OUT” end to thenetwork port on the switch.
l Lightning arrester for the network port is not well grounded. The ground wire for thearrester should be as short as possible to ensure its good contact with the groundingscrew of the switch. After the connection, use the multimeter to confirm that.
l The lightning arrester for the network port is not installed completely. If the switch hasmore than one network port to interconnect to other devices via cables outdoor, installlightning arresters for all these network ports for protection.
