A N O R D I N A N C E T O A M E N D T H E C I T R U S F R U I T A D V E R T I S E M E N T O R D I N A N C E .

B E I T E N A C T E D by the H i g h Commissioner for Palestine, wi th the advice of the Advisory Council thereof :—

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Citrus F r u i t Advertise­ment (Amendment) Ordinance, 1937, and shall be read as one with the Citrus F r u i t Advertisement Ordinance, hereinafter referred to as the principal Ordinance.

2. The long title of the principal Ordinance shall be amended by the addition of the words —

"and of approved schemes designed to benefit the citrus industry ."

at the end thereof.

3. Section 2 of the principal Ordinance shall be amended by the insertion of the words "or fees" after the word . " f ee " ap­pearing therein.

4. Section 3 of the principal Ordinance shall be amended by the insertion of the words "or fees" after the word " fee" appear­ing therein.

5. Section 4 of the principal Ordinance shall be amended by the substitution of the word " F i s h e r i e s " for the word "Fores t s " appearing therein.

6. Section 5 of the principal Ordinance shall be amended by the addition of the words —

"and may further be used to defray the cost of, and expenses connected with and incidental to, any scheme designed to benefit the citrus industry in Palestine which has been re­commended by the committee referred to i n section 4 and approved by the Director of Agriculture and Fisher ies . "

7. Section 6 of the principal Ordinance shall be amended by the substitution of the words " a fee or fees" for the words "the fee" appearing in paragraph (a) thereof.

O B J E C T S A N D B E A S O N S .

Under section 5 of the Citrus F r u i t Advertisement Ordinance (Cap. 17) the use of the Palestine Citrus F r u i t Advertisement F u n d is restricted to defraying the cost of advertising the citrus fruit and products of Palestine. This Ordinance amends the principal Ordinance so as to enable the fund to be used to finance any approved scheme recommended by the Citrus F r u i t Advertising Committee and designed to benefit the citrus industry, with the particular object of applying it to the financing of a proposed scheme of research and investigation into the problem of wastage of citrus fruit exported from Palestine.
