KEY HIGHLIGHTS AT THIS YEAR’S EDITION

SIMPOR JUNIOR HALL, LEVEL 4,SANDS EXPO & CONVENTION CENTER

THURSDAY 13TH OCT 2016,08.15 AM ONWARDS

STRIKING THE BALANCE OF SUSTAINABILITYTHROUGH RESPONSIBLE FAÇADES

Singapore is home to some of the world’s finest buildings with some classical façades. With ever increasing demand on improving infrastructure, the need to build eco-friendly and sustainable buildings with high performance and energy ecient façades is seeing a new light. There is an all-inclusive emphasis on cutting edge façades that are structurally, aesthetically, thermally, technologically & acoustically ecient, secure and above all sustainable. With a view to unite the ever expanding brigade of stalwarts in the field of façades and building envelopes, Zak brings their flagship conference on façade design & engineering to Singapore.

Zak World of Façades through its indomitable spirit to zest up the façade scenario, has traversed a long way since its inception in 2012. Now in its 23rd edition globally, it is once again up to the challenge to bring forth the ideas of innovative and unconventional new trends in responsible façades and sustainability. Not to miss is the take on profitability and viability of investing in the modern façades by professionals from the architecture and construction industry.

The forum is determined to propagate awareness on the newest cutting edge technology and perspectives in the field of façade design and engineering and is a great opportunity to develop new relationships and broadening business networks. Plus, it is an excellent platform to garner new ideas along with brushing up the knowledge on façades.

Enroll your participation early in this incomparable symposium of information, ideas and innovation shared by the respective domain experts.

Get exclusive insight from experts on the thermal and

structural performance of façades to meet the stringent

Envelope Thermal Transfer Value (ETTV) & Residential

Envelope Transmittance Value (RETV) target.

Witness a full height mockup of a high performance

thermally insulated ventilated curtain wall system and

sliding window with full functionality.

Listen to keynote speakers and façade experts sharing

their experience and knowledge on façade design &

delivery through of case studies from Singapore & Asia.

Interact with solution providers showcasing unique

products including high performance glass, value added

glass, fire safety solutions, composite & metal cladding,

acoustics, point fixed glazing, etc.

CONFERENCE AGENDA

SESSION - 1 (08.50 - 10.10)

SESSION - 2 (10.30 - 12.40)

10.30 CITIES ALIVE: DESIGNING GREEN & SUSTAINABLE FAÇADES FOR THE TROPICS Why do we need sustainable cities? Challenges incorporating “green” façades and their influence the environment Examples of sustainable façades in tropics and other parts of the world “Well” rating system and how it will influence future buildings

Michael Chin, Associate Principal - Façade Engineering Leader, Arup 11.00 FAÇADE DETAILING FOR LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION Principles of passive design using the inherent qualities of the construction Focus on climates where complete natural ventilation is not possible due to the harshness of the climate, hence mechanical HVAC is necessary Examples on energy savings in the operation of HVAC systems using simple improvements in the design & detailing of building envelopes

Stephen Tanno, Director - Pre Construction Services, Schüco International

11.20 OPTIMIZING STRUCTURAL EFFICIENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY IN FAÇADE DESIGN Sharing three projects in the tropical climate of Singapore, with diering uses and geometries, this presentation will review how the design and construction teams partnered to integrate and optimize architectural and structural eciency In each case, the use of a variety of traditional and emerging tools, including parametric modeling and customized computer scripts, as well as actual mockups in the field, to refine steelwork and exterior building material system choices Examples include the fractalization of the façade with stepped terraces at a residential tower, Sky Habitat; the finely-tuned building assemblies of steel structure and glass and metal panels at Jewel at Changi Airport; and the fabrication sequencing and engineering of the complex façades of the Marina Bay Sands complex

Charu Kokate, Principal, Safdie Architects

11.50 ENERGY CODES, RATINGS & GUIDELINES FOR FAÇADES Sustainable façades for the region Role of building envelopes to meet local Green Building regulations Rating standards and stakeholder coordination for façades Thermal performance in curtain wall & fenestration Dynamic shading techniques
