racquetballA fun, fast-paced game played on our indoor courts in which theserving player stands on the service line, and on the serve, heor she must bounce the ball, and then hit it toward the wall infront of him or her. If itdoes, the ball is in play, and the receiving player, who stands ata line behind the "short line," may hit the ball so that it hits thefront wall. Players can only earn a point on a serve, which the receiving player gains if he or she wins the rally. My wife, Carolyn, daughter Michelle, and I joined the YWCA in1984, and we have been members ever since. The YW has been acenter of our family activities for more than 30 years. We havewatched the YW grow into the strong and vibrant organization it istoday. During that time the YW has served our family and the com-munity in so many beneficial ways. There are programs for seniors,after-school programs for youth and of course child care services. We feel privileged to be a small part of its success.Today Carolyn and I use the YWCA more than ever. We do bike andyoga classes, lift weights, exercise on the aerobic machines, andplay racquetball, just to name a few of the many activities. But evenmore than these activities, we have made lifelong friendships withfellow YW members. The YW has been so much a part of our livesthat we could not imagine living in Gettysburg without it. We willcontinue to support this vital organization.
