21st May – Year meeting for Year 8 with Year Advisors 22nd May – Zone Cross Country 27th May – Week 5 – Reach Science 3rd June – Week 6 - Yr 7-9 Semester 1 Exams (All week) 3rd June - M Factor concert 10th June – Monday – Long Weekend 10th June – Wk 7 Starstruck 17th June – Wk 8 Waste Awareness Week 17th June- Wk 8 Reach Writing 19th June – Wk 8 - Wed – Yr 8 Music Performance Night 1st July - WK 10 – Monday ROSA Assembly 1.30pm 5th July - report issue (last day of term) 23rd July – school Resumes Students Week 3 term 3 - 8th August Parent Teacher Interviews, Subject Evening 13th August

Scheduled in Learning Centre over Wk 6 3rd June 7th June

Normal lessons operate when not in exams

Timing – English(60 mins), Maths (80 mins), Science (80 mins)

Other Subjects generally 40 mins

ONLY EXAMS IN ENGLISH, MATHS, SCIENCE, GEOGRAPHY, MUSIC

Each night 20 mins review of notes/summaries and 20 mins practice questions {3 subjects}

To Reduce Anxiety

Be clear on what is required Plan and budget time (family calendar) Pay attention to scaffold and explicit instructions Chunking into pieces Focus on past successes in assignments and time

management.(some issues with not wanting to start in case they start off incorrectly,……stop review and proceed!)

How is this different?

Tightly Scaffolded Learning

Students will: Be taught skills in project management Provided resources to assist and guide them in

their journey Be held accountable to project milestones

This will involve: Explicit teaching Guided Project Teams Mentored Individual Projects

Process for subject selection

After reading the curriculum booklet, asking questions and discussing with family

Students will select 1 x 100hr elective (to be studied in Year 9 only)

And select 1 x 200hr elective (to be studied in Year 9 and Year 10)

During late term 2 early term 3 students will:Receive a curriculum booklet regarding choicesBe briefed by class teachers and Head Teachers about optionsDiscuss the process of choice in guidance.
