Pattern PlanksAlro Plastics offers a full line of Tool Chemical Composites Pattern Planks for applications such asprototype and low-volume to high-volume foundry patterns, core boxes, match plates, gating andrisering. Often referred to as the “Red Stuff” this line of pattern planks is designed to be a lightweight, tough and cost effective to alternative to various metals and wood. Several shared characteristicsof these planks are excellent dimensional stability, high wear resistance, ease of machining, nograin and low dust when machining.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
The “Red Stuff” is a polyurethaneboard designed for machiningextremely durable & wear resistantfoundry patterns, core boxes andother tools that require high wearand impact resistance.
A harder, more dense, rigid & lesscostly version of its predecessorPP-1052 Pattern Plank. This plankis a tough, cost effective alternativeto metal.
This red pattern board is a provenmaterial for medium-volume foundrypatterns, core boxes, gating & risers. It is often used for metal forming, stamping and stretch press dies.

Precision Board PlusPrecision Board Plus High Density Urethane is a “closed cell” rigid polyurethane product. It is avail-able in a wide range of standard sheet sizes and standard densities and can be cut or bonded into a variety of shapes for final machining and shaping. Precision Board Plus is made from 23.9% rapidly renewable resources, with a carbon footprint of 3:1, so you can be confident that one of the most dimensionally stable substrates for a variety of tooling applications is also an environmentally friendly one.
Precision Board Plus is available in two grades, PBLT (Low Temperature) and PBHT (High Tempera-ture). PBLT is designed for applications that are 200oF and below while PBHT is designed forapplications 200oF and above.
PBLT is a “closed cell” rigid polyure-thane product made specifically for applications up to 200oF continuous exposure.
PBHT is a “closed cell” rigid polyure-thane product made specifically for applications up to 300oF continuous exposure.

The information in the chart above represents PBLT and PBHT densities most commonly used for a particular application. Because performance requirements for each specific project vary based on consider-ations such as, the need for impact and abrasion resistance; compression, shear and tensile strength required; degree of edge detail needed; level of surface smoothness required, and weight (among others), Alro Plastics is providing this information to serve only as a general guide. Please contact us with any questions and or concerns.
Alro Plastics is an industry leader in supplying engineering plastic shapes and parts. We cut and/or ship the same day your order is placed and provide value
added processing to meet the most demanding fabrication requirements.
