A cheesecake/blintz Kiddush will be served the first day of

Shavuos after davening, and is being sponsored by Rena &

On the second day of Shavuos there will be a sumptuous

meat Kiddush/Lunch. Sponsorships encouraged for the

Kiddush/Lunch: Patron $54, Donor $36, Sponsor $18. Sign-up sheet for

sponsors will be available in the lobby. Participants’ names will be

posted. Let’s be as successful as last year! EVERYONE IS INVITED TO BOTH EVENTS!

The Siyum for Masechta Kesuvos will take place on

Monday, May 25th -

the 2nd day of Shavuos –

in the main shul at the end of davening.

The Seudah will be held in conjunction with the meat

Kiddush/Lunch.

RABBI’S MESSAGE

In this week’s Parshios of Acharei-Kedoshim we are

treated to a host of Mitzvos which cover many areas of

life. Most prominent among them is the instruction of

'ואהבת לרעך כמוך אני ה" “Love you fellow as yourself,

I am Hashem “What is the connection between caring

for our neighbors and the love of Hashem? The great

Kabbalist Rabbi Chaim Vital (1542-1620) of Tzfat,

offers an intriguing Gematria to explain this point. The

word “Love” 13=אהבה. Now when two people

demonstrate their love towards each other you have 2

times האהב =26. And we all know that 26 is the Gematria

of Hashem! Therefore by joining forces with another

person we can reach the level of ני הא' “I am Hashem.

We have recently concluded negotiations to participate in the

Optimum Bank's Affinity Program. Optimum Bank is located on

Hillsboro Blvd. directly across from Century Village.

When members and supporters of Young Israel open an eligible

account, as long as the account remains in existence, the bank will

make quarterly donations to Young Israel of Deerfield Beach,

based on the interest credited to our various accounts. The present

rate of interest is .25% which is one of the highest in the area.

A number of dedication opportunities are still available at YIDB. List

of available dedications is posted on bulletin board in lobby. If

interested, please contact Danny Berger or the office.

WHEELCHAIRS may be borrowed for use on Shabbos/Yom Tov only.

Wheelchairs cannot be “reserved” in advance. Pick up Thursday or Friday, after signing list in the office. Must be returned by Monday. Notify office when

returning.

Please be considerate and refrain from wearing perfume in

shul.

LOCKERS AVAILABLE

We have lockers available for rent. Please inquire in the

office.

CHECKING MEZUZOS & SHATNES There is an obligation for a Mezuzah to be checked and examined every 3½

years or twice in seven years. Clothing must be checked for shatnes.

Safety Reflectors Belts are available in office @ $2/each.
