I hope you are well! It’s been a long, cold winter, but the days are getting longer, the mornings are becoming brighter and the season is beginning to shift into Spring - yay! Now that March is finally here, we can only hope the snow will be melting, and the flowers will begin to bloom. As the temperature begins to rise, and we can spend more time outdoors, our toes can finally come out of the big heavy socks and boots. With the rise in temperature, our bodies also begin to crave more movement as our bones begin to warm. I love the Spring. I love to see the flowers blooming and listen to the bird's sing. I love the feeling of freshness and purity and witnessing the magic of mother nature. I found a quote about Spring by Vasant Lad that I found sums up Spring perfectly! “Spring is the king of seasonsa time of sunshine and cheer, love and creativity. Mother Earth wakes up and causes sprouting; energy moves up; everything is blooming, fu of colour. We begin to feel more energetic and spend more time outdoors, where children are playing and the birds are singing. Spring is the season of celebration.” Seasonal transitions are a perfect to time to purify. Spring is a great time to cleanse, restore and begin something new. Mentally purifying by learning how to calm and quiet your mind. Physically purifying but improving digestion, through getting more activity as well as making more mindful decisions when it comes to nutrition. Whether you have been practicing throughout the winter and are ready to observe the natural changes in your practice as the temperature rises and you have more energy, you are completely new to Yoga, or haven’t practiced in a while - Spring is an excellent time to begin or return to your Yoga. About the classes: All classes are ‘drop-in’, meaning there is no need to pre-register for weekly classes. All classes except restorative are $15.00 to drop-in, class passes are also available (prices listed below). The Restorative Yoga class is $20.00 to drop-in - separate class passes are available for this class. New students are always welcome. !!What class? With the many different styles of Yoga available, it can be hard trying to decide what class is right for you. These are the classes I am currently offering with a little description. If you are still having a hard time choosing please do not hesitate to contact me and I can go into more detail. !
Hatha l/ll (gentle/beginner)!!Is a class geared toward a basic understanding of everything you will need to begin a safe and enjoyable yoga practice. Classes will include basic postures focusing on proper alignment, breathing techniques and meditation to bring a sense of strength, balance and well being to the practitioner. In this class you will continue to learn new postures, as well as establish an in-depth understanding of the fundamental yoga postures. *I recommend this class to beginning students.

Restorative Yoga!!With the use of props (blankets, bolsters, blocks, etc.) Postures are held for longer, in supported positions. Physically, restorative yoga is a gentle practice, where the body is held in supported positions, and the body opens passively - allowing the body to drift into a state of deep relaxation. !!
Hatha Mix!The best of both worlds! This class is a blend of hatha l/ll flow and Restorative Yoga. It will include standing and seated postures, as well as restorative postures. !

Vinyasa!A fast paced class, with fluid movements that connect each posture to the next, while coordinating the breath with movement. Sequences can be expected to be vigorous.!

Upcoming Yoga Workshops At the Springfield Community Centre !!Happy Hips: A Hip Opening Yoga Workshop - Saturday, March 7th from 10:30-12:30 pm This class will include a sequence that was designed to open the hips in all directions, creating more mobility in the hips. We will pay special attention to how ‘open hips’ can help to ease low back pain. This class includes a handout. !Move From Your Core: Yoga for Core Strength - Saturday, April 4th from 10:30-12:30 pm In this class, we will go over a yoga sequence that was designed to build strength and awareness throughout the core. The class will include different ways to build strength through the abdominals by using them as stabilizers. The sequence was created to target the individual muscles in the abdominals and to develop a better understanding of how you can use these yogic techniques on and off the mat. This class includes a handout.!!Flow it Down - Saturday, May 9th from 10:30-12:30 pm  This class is a blend of a flowing yoga practice that ends with a restorative yoga practice. Ideal for those who enjoy the pace of a flowing/vinyasa style class, but also wish to reap the benefits of the deep relaxation that is cultivated in restorative yoga. This class is also great for anyone who has never tried restorative yoga. Although the benefits of yoga, in general, are immensely beneficial, restorative yoga offers something that other styles do not. Physically, restorative yoga is a gentle practice, where the body is held in supported positions, and the body opens passively - allowing the body to drift into a state of deep relaxation.!!No pre-registration require, but you may contact me to secure your place. $20.00 per workshop or register for all three for $50.00.
