Our trip started with a movie

We learned a lot!

We learned to lash wood together

An outrigger sailed the Pacific

An early explorer

Whalers came to NZ

We saw the famous America’s Cup yacht

We saw the crew

We designed a yacht

We played at being crew members

Boom! The cannon fired

Lunch outside!

We met Salty Sam!

Jayden knew how to steer the boat

Salty Sam explained about life for immigrants on ships

We found out what it was like to be an

immigrant coming to NZ in the old days

It was a free trip in those days but it took a long time in really bad conditions

Families came and settled here

Most early migrants came from England

We found out that Abel Tasman discovered New Zealand

But Captain Cook claimed it for England in 1769 in the Endeavor

He returned after his discovery in this ship called the Resolution

We had a great time!
