Cyber risk, ILS, oil & gas, LatAm: hot topics for this year’s Bermuda Captive Conference

Hamilton, Bermuda, January 14, 2015 — Cyber risk, energy trends, collateralised reinsurance, Canada

and Latin American opportunities are among the hot topics shaping up for this year’s Bermuda Captive

Conference June 13–15.

The 2016 conference promises captive owners, risk managers and insurance professionals a robust,

extensive agenda offering expert insights into current developments that impact the captive insurance

market. Expected to attract more than 700 delegates, it will also deliver a broader view on insurance

industry topics, emerging issues, and global risk perspectives—plus offer opportunities to network with

industry specialists and peers.

primarily Fortune 500 corporations in the US, and generating over $48 billion in annual gross written

premiums in 2014. Notably, Bermuda-based captives support an estimated 25 percent of the American

medical insurance and reinsurance market, and a growing number have originated from Canada and

Latin America in recent years.

Keynote speaker Joe Flowers, a leading international expert in healthcare, genomics and

Insurance and reinsurance industry views on the impact of climate change and the evolving

nature of catastrophe events and losses

Sessions on how to use captives for global employee benefits, including post-retirement

benefits (pensions/retiree medical), providing financial advantages and efficiencies to parent

companies

Expert insurer and captive owner panels on the impact of healthcare reform on company

liabilities, healthcare insurance and long-term, critical-care insurance. Case studies will include

how companies are using captives as a management tool for analyzing medical-loss data and

driving down global medical costs

“Bermuda shorts” briefing sessions of 15 to 20 minutes, on specific lines of business, technical

issues and targeted topics identified by captive owners and professionals
