This guide was created to assist organizations and members of Azure Advisors
that are experiencing issues accessing the online community, help identify the
root cause of the issue and possible solutions or locate appropriate support.

Troubleshooting Steps
Please go through the questions and steps listed below or navigate to the end for FAQ’s
and common scenarios.
1. Does your company Utilize O365?
- Yes. Proceed to Step 3. Because your organization subscribes to O365, then your
organization has a Yammer network, as Yammer is automatically provisioned with all O365
subscriptions. To access/join an external Yammer network such as Azure Advisors, your
Yammer profile in your organizations home Yammer network must be active.
- No. Proceed to Step 2.
2. Contact Cloud Platform Advisors via email [email protected] with the following details:
- Copy and Paste this url: www.Yammer.com/AzureAdvisors into an InPrivate browsing
session and take a screenshot of the landing page. Then take a screenshot of all
subsequent pages through your completion of the requested steps.
When taking the screenshots, please ensure that the full URL in the address bar at the top of the
browser is visible.

3. Can you access your Yammer profile on your organizations home network?
- Yes. Proceed to Step 4.
- No. Please reach out directly to your organizations IT Department to activate your Yammer
profile. To access/join an external Yammer network such as Azure Advisors, your Yammer
profile in your organizations home Yammer network must be active. When you can access
your Yammer profile, please contact Cloud Platform Advisors via email at
[email protected] to resend your Azure Advisors invitation.
4. Is Azure Advisors an available option in the external network section within the Settings and
more menu of Yammer?
- Yes. If you see Azure Advisors as an option, please click on it to confirm that you can access
Azure Advisors. If you are unable to access Azure Advisors, proceed to Step 5.
- No. Proceed to Step 5.
You can view your available external networks by logging into your Yammer profile on your
organizations Yammer network and clicking on the Settings and more icon at the top of the left
rail:
5. Confirm your organizations Yammer External Network Settings.
Many organizations have Yammer settings that restrict users from joining external networks
without admin approval. If your organizations settings reflect this option, then you will not be
able to join Azure Advisors without administrator approval. In addition this setting may also
cause impede you from receiving the Azure Advisors Yammer invite via email and may reroute
you to your organizations home Yammer network each time you attempt to login to Azure
Advisors.
- If admin approval is required, proceed to Step 6.
- If admin approval is not required, proceed to Step 7.
To confirm your organizations Yammer External Network Settings, navigate to
https://Yammer.com/YourOrganizationsDomain.com/admin/directory and contact one of the
Verified Admins listed to confirm whether the following setting is enabled:
- require admin approval for YourOrganizationsDomain members to join other companies’
external networks
6. Your company requires admin approval to join other companies’ external networks
If your organization has selected to require admin approval before members can join other
companies’ external networks and they are:
- Willing to provide approval: Direct the Yammer Admin to the following url to approve
your request: https://www.yammer.com/YourOrganizationsDomain.com/notifications

- Not willing to provide approval: Contact Cloud Platform Advisors via email at
[email protected] for next steps.
7. Verify E-Mail address associated with Yammer profile
It is common that individuals Yammer profiles are associated with a different or legacy E-Mail
alias than the one used to receive E-Mail and/or login to corporate domains. In such cases, the
individual will not be able to join Azure Advisors, as there is a mismatch between the E-Mail
that was used to invite them.
Once you have completed the steps below, proceed to Step 8.
To discover the E-Mail address associated with your Yammer Profile follow the steps
below in order:
I. Sign out of all Microsoft online services
You may be signed in to another Microsoft online service, and this may be preventing you
from signing out. If this is the case, sign out of all Microsoft online services. To do this, follow
these steps:
• Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com/logout.srf and then sign out if you haven’t already.
• Go to https://login.live.com/logout.srf and then sign out if you haven’t already.
II. Clear cookies from the web browser
Clear cookies from the web browser, and then try signing out again. The steps for doing this
vary, depending on the browser that you're using. For more information, see the following
resources:

III. Sign into O365: https://login.microsoftonline.com
IV. In the upper left-hand corner of your screen, click on the Apps Icon, and then on the Yammer
Tile
*Note: If you do not see a Yammer tile here, then you are missing a Yammer license. Please direct your companies O365 Company Administrator to the following link for instructions on assigning new licenses. V. Click the Settings and more icon in the left-hand rail, and then select your name. On the far right of the screen is a section that is titled INFO. Note the E-Mail address.
8. Contact Cloud Platform Advisors via E-Mail [email protected] with the following details: • Answers to Steps 1-7 above, including Step 2.
Frequent Scenarios
Below is a list of scenarios that happen frequently.
I have not received the Yammer invitation for Azure Advisors.
The Yammer E-Mail invitation is sent from [email protected] and often lands in the Junk
Folder, please check your Junk Folder to confirm it wasn’t sent there.
This can be caused by a variety of reasons. Please contact Cloud Platform Advisors via E-Mail at
[email protected] with the information requested in Step 8.
I received the Yammer invitation for Azure Advisors and when I try to login I receive a message that
says, “We’re sorry, you don’t have access to Yammer.”
This error message is because your organization has an O365 subscription, and a Yammer network
but you have not been issued a Yammer license. Your organizations Yammer administrator can
provide you with a Yammer license by following the instructions provided in the following link:

I received the Yammer invitation for Azure Advisors and when the page renders I receive a message
that says, “This network is private. Membership must be approved by an admin. Request an
Invitation.”
This error message is caused for a variety of reasons such as a pending or suspended Yammer
profile on your organizations home network or by a mismatch between the E-Mail that Cloud
Platform Advisors used to invite you to Azure Advisors, and the E-Mail that is associated with your
Yammer profile on your organizations Yammer network. Please follow the steps outlined in Step 8
above and contact Cloud Platform Advisors via E-Mail [email protected] with the
information.
I received the Yammer invitation for Azure Advisors and when the page renders I receive a message

Advisors used to invite you to Azure Advisors, and the E-Mail that is associated with your Yammer

and contact Cloud Platform Advisors via E-Mail [email protected] with the information.
I received the Yammer invitation for Azure Advisors, but each time I click on the link to accept the
invitation and login with my E-Mail I am automatically rerouted to my organizations Yammer network.
This is typically due to your organizations External Network Settings requiring admin approval for
users to access external networks. Please follow the instructions outlined in Step 5 above.
