19 – 3 = 12 – 5 = 20 – 4 = 23 – 6 = 18 – 10 = 14 – 7 = 34 – 6 = 24 – 10 = 42 – 6 = 50 – 10 = 48 – 8 = 44 – 10 =

English: Listen to the story of The Three Billy Goats https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiy3a1v9Q2E. Talk with your family about what the story is about.

• Who are the main characters? • Where is the setting? • What happened at the beginning, the middle and the end? • What can you learn from this story?

Look at the story cards worksheet provided in the Home Learning pack. Talk about what is happening in each picture. Cut or draw the pictures in order and retell the story.

Tuesday Maths: Today we are going to practice ‘counting back’ when we subtract numbers. Look at this example closely...

Using the same strategy, complete these subtraction sums...

95 – 3 = 88 – 5 = 79 – 6 = 68 – 4 = Using the ‘Column Method’ (see example of layout below), answer these subtraction sums. Remember to always start with the ‘ones’ column on the right (seen here as 8 – 3)

58 – 3 = 69 – 4 = 78 – 3 = 67 – 5= 96 – 3 = 88 – 7 = 79 – 6 = 88 – 7 =

English: Listen to the story of The Three Billy Goats again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiy3a1v9Q2E. What is a caption? Use the sheet ‘Once upon a time’ provided in the Home Learning pack Look at the picture and read the captions below the picture. Decide which caption matches the picture shown. Using the worksheet provided in the Home Learning pack, write sentences that match what is going on in each picture. Make sure your sentences start with capital letters and have full stops and finger spaces between words.

Wednesday Maths: Continue practising subtraction using the ‘Column Method’. Remember to always start with the ‘ones’ column on the right. Solve these subtraction sums.

95 – 20 = 69 – 30 = 70 – 20 = 40 – 20 = 68 – 32 = 97 – 54 = 56 – 23 = 97 – 54 =

Match the answers with the correct subtraction sum. This worksheet is available in the Home Learning pack. Either print it off or copy out the answers and sums and match them by drawing a line between the correct pair.

English: Re-listen to The Three Billy Goats Gruff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiy3a1v9Q2E Today you are going to be learning about question marks. Look carefully at the slides provided in the Home Learning pack about this. Follow their cues to write some of your own questions. You are going to write 3 questions for each of these questions starters. Ensure your questions relate to the story. (ie WHAT – What is the goat doing? What does the troll want to eat? What does the goat have around his neck?)

HOW ARE DO WILL CAN

Thursday Maths: How many different ways can you think of to make 50? You can add, subtract or even double numbers. How many ways did you find? Using the ‘Column Method’ for subtraction, solve the subtraction sums on the ‘Column Subtraction (No Exchanging)’ worksheet provided in the Home Learning pack. Either print this sheet or copy the sums into your workbook. Challenge: Complete the ‘Place Value puzzles’ sheet English: Talk with your family about question marks. Try to think of as many questions starting with different words as you can. Today you are going to be learning about speech bubbles. A Speech bubble is used in a picture to show that someone is talking. Have you seen speech bubbles before? Can you show an example of one? Today you are going to be thinking about what the goats and trolls were saying to eachother. Using the worksheets provided, either print them off or copy them into your workbook, fill in the speech bubbles with something those characters might be saying.

Science: Watch this video to recap on what we have been learning about; seasons and weather https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zk9mxyc This week, you are going to interpret (read) the data that your have collected during the observation period and identify simple patterns in the data, and communicate these through

Geography: Discuss these questions with your family:

• What is a map used for? • Why do we need to use a map? • What can we see on a map?

Explore Google maps https://www.google.co.uk/maps/ and search for ‘Eastbury Primary School’. Can you find it?

• What has the weather been like most of the time?

• Have there been lots of days when it rained?

• Has it been freezing cold? • Have you needed your wellies or a

sunhat? • What has been your favourite/least

favourite day of weather? Using the grid provided in the Home Learning pack or draw one similar in your workbook, draw two pictures in the ‘What I like about the weather’ One picture should shows your favourite weather during the last fortnight and one should show your least favourite. Reflect and review: Think about how the weather changes over the seasons. Talk about your favourite weather in different seasons. You will need : ‘What I like about the weather’ sheet, paper, pencil, weather chart

What other landmarks can you find? Barking Station, Goodmayes Park, your house? Maps are used to show you where you are and where other locations are around you. You can use the landmarks or roads to help you get from one place to another. When have you and your family used maps? Using the local map provided in the Home Learning Pack, label your school, your home and one more important landmark.

Reflect and review: Discuss which directions you travel in to get from home to school. Can you use the words ‘turn left’ or ‘turn right’? What are the names of the roads you travel on?

You will need : local area map worksheet, pencil, AtoZ London, mapbook

RE: With your family, recap the 5 pillars of Islam (Faith, Fasting, Prayer, Charity and Pilgrimage). Watch this video to learn more https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z4yr87h

This week, you will be learning about ‘Pilgrimage’. Look at the picture below of Hajj. Has anyone in your family been here? Talk about their experiences.

Imagine that you are going to Makkah. Think about how you got there, who you went with,

Computing: This week you are going to be designing a computer game. Each game needs an objective of the game and the main character has to achieve something; like finding a treasure, fighting sharks, etc. Talk with your family about some computer games you know and what the objective of the game is. Computer games also have rewards and penalties; like getting points or losing points or getting more powers or losing them. The main characters also have to do tasks or travel through different worlds to reach their end goal. On their way, they will encounter opportunities where they can gain rewards or get penalties. Now it’s YOUR turn! Using the grid provided in the Home Learning

pack, either print this off or copy it into your workbook. Fill in starting point and journey or tasks where the character can gain rewards or get penalties. Make small drawings and write explanations as captions. In last box, fill in the end goal of the game. Review/reflection: Talk with your family about your favourite game and what you like about it You will need : paper, pencil, ruler, ‘design a game’ grid

Music: Play the ‘Forbidden Rhythm’ game. Choose one player to be the leader, which should be an adult, the first few times you play the game. This person claps a variety of short, simple rhythms and the rest of the class copy them straight away. This is called ‘call and response’. Try and keep a steady pulse as you go from one rhythm to the next. The leader will choose one rhythm that will be a ‘forbidden rhythm’ and when the leader plays that, the rest of the family do nothing, like a game of ‘Simon Says’.

Learn more about pulse and rhythm by watching this video https://bbc.in/2YMEyEg Now clap different rhythms with your family. Practise the ‘call and response’ to practise listening and copying them. Reflect and review: Have a clapping concert with different rhythms you practised.

PHSE: We are almost at the end of Year 1 and you have worked so hard and learnt so much! With your family, talk about some of the exciting things that have happened and places you have visited. Discuss any challenges and changes. Look at photographs or keepsakes of special times during the year. Using the ‘My Favourite Memories from This Year!’ worksheet provided in the Home Learning pack, please talk about and write sentences under each heading. Either print this off or copy the headings into your workbook. Perhaps you could even make a poster all about your year with drawings and photographs.

You will need : paper, pencil, colouring pencils, worksheet

PE: Warm up your body by moving your elbow around and watching it carefully. Repeat with the other elbow. Now move around an area following your elbows; let them travel high and low and in different directions.

Talk with your family and experiment with different ways of travelling on your feet. Can you travel quickly? Can you travel slowly? Can you travel sideways? Using a variety of movements, create a pattern dance... doing one action for 4 seconds before changing to another action. Repeat this with several different movements. Can you add in some music and ask an adult to play an instrument to match your dance?

Review / Cool down: Think about your breathing after your dance. While standing, raise both arms slowly as you breathe in and lower them as you breathe out. Slow your breathing down to a rest rate. You will need : an open space, music, a water bottle

Hajj – Pillar Five

All Muslims have a duty to make a pilgrimage to Makkah at least once in their life. Very

often whole families will save to send one person at a time.

Men who go must wear an ihram which is made up of two sheets which must not be

sewn together.

Muslims go on the pilgrimage to bring

together the community and

strengthen it.
