1. Introduction

The Y-cam app is required to make the most of your Y-cam Protect Alarm System, and Y-cam

Cloud Based Motion Detection Security cameras.

The Y-cam app was designed from the ground up to provide a seamless user experience

from one portal.


2. Downloading and Installing the Y-cam app

The Y-cam app is available for iOS and Android devices only. The minimum specifications to

be able to download the Y-cam app are as follows.

For iOS (iPhone recommended):

iOS version 8 and above

Bluetooth version 4.1

For Android:

Android version 4.4 and above

Bluetooth version 4.1

To download the Y-cam app, you need to download it from the App Store or Google Play

Store.

The icon for the app is below, and it is a free app to download.


3. Log In or Sign Up

Once you have downloaded and installed the Y-cam app, you will see the following screen

when you open the Y-cam app.

If you already have an account then please use your email address and password to log in. If

you used to have a Y-cam HomeMonitor account, then press log in and use your existing

username and password. Please do not use your email address, as this will prevent you from

logging in.

If you are a new customer, then please press Sign Up, and follow the steps below.

Enter: Your First Name. Your Surname. Email Address. Choose your password, which must contain a minimum of 8 characters including and uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number. Confirm your password. Press Confirm.


Select: Your Gender. Your Age. Your Location. Press Continue.

You are now ready to add your first Y-cam device.


4. Installing a Y-cam Evo

To install a Y-cam Evo you need to do the following.

From the Device Selection Screen select Y-cam Evo.

If you already have an account, then from the Camera Dashboard select Add New, and then choose Y-cam Evo.

Plug in camera, please wait for the status LED to turn solid blue, and select Continue.

For Android phones you may need to allow access to Bluetooth. Please press Yes.


From the next screen select your Y-cam Evo from the list.

On the next screen select your Wi-Fi network.

Enter the Wi-Fi network password and press OK. Please note that for the Y-cam Evo the network password cannot contain more than 19 characters, we advise should only contain letters and numbers.

Press OK to confirm that Wi-Fi Setup is complete.


Press Continue once the Status LED has gone green on the camera.

Name your Y-cam Evo, and select what your camera is for from the drop down. Then press Continue

Select your Time Zone from the drop down, and press Continue.


Set Motion Zone(s), and then press Save. When setting motion zones, please make sure they do not overlap, or touch the edge of the screen.

Press OK to the message confirming that Set up is complete.

You will then be taken to the Camera Dashboard.


5. Installing a Y-cam Indoor HDS

To install a Y-cam Indoor HDS you need to do the following.

From the Device Selection Screen select Y-cam Indoor HDS.

If you already have an account, then from the Camera Dashboard select Add New, and then choose Y-cam Indoor HDS.

Plug your camera into a power source with the supplied power cable, then connect the camera to your router with the Ethernet cable. Wait for the Status LED to go green, and press Continue


Enter the name you want to give the camera, and enter the Camera ID. From the dropdown, choose the reason for camera use, and then press Continue

Select your Wi-Fi Network. If you are going to have a cable connection press Skip in the bottom right.

Enter your Wi-Fi Network password, and then press OK.

When the Wi-Fi set up is complete, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the camera, and wait for the Status LED to flash red before going green. Press OK.


6. Installing a Y-cam Indoor VGA

To install a Y-cam Indoor VGA you need to do the following.

From the Device Selection Screen select Y-cam Indoor HDS.

If you already have an account, then from the Camera Dashboard select Add New, and then choose Y-cam Indoor VGA.



7. Installing a Y-cam Outdoor HD Pro

To install a Y-cam Outdoor HD Pro you need to do the following.

From the Device Selection Screen select Y-cam Outdoor HD Pro.

If you already have an account, then from the Camera Dashboard select Add New, and then choose Y-cam Outdoor HD Pro.



8. Installing a Y-cam Protect System

To install a Y-cam Indoor HDS you need to do the following.

From the Device Selection Screen select Y-cam Protect.

If you already have an account, then from the Protect Dashboard screen press on Add New


Read the information and press Continue.

Select Usage and Service

If you are taking out the Plus Service then choose either Plus Premium or Plus Standard. Then press Continue If you have received a voucher code, then press ‘I have a voucher code’


Enter your Payment details if paying by card.

If you have a voucher code, select the relevant Plus plan, enter your code and press Apply Code.

Follow the steps for Hub Setup


Enter the: Hub ID Name for your Hub. What the Protect System will be used for. The timezone. Press Continue

The Hub will then be set up, and when Complete press Continue.

You will then be taken the Protect Dashboard.


To add your Remote, Access Sensor or Motion Sensor press the ‘+’ in the top right. Then select the Device Type.

After you add each device you will be taken to the Protect Dashboard, just press the ‘+’ in the top right to add each additional Remote or Sensor.

To install the Outdoor Siren, press the ‘+’ in the top right corner of the Protect Dashboard, and select Siren.


If a Firmware Upgrade of the Hub is required, this screen will display. Press Continue

If you’re happy to proceed press YES, I’M SURE on the pop up.

You will see this screen while the upgrade takes place, and when it is complete. Press Continue.

Follow the rest of the steps to add the Siren to your Protect System


9. Installing a Y-cam Evo Protect Edition

To install the Y-cam Protect Evo Edition camera, you must have a Y-cam Protect System in

your account.

To install the Evo Protect Edition, press the ‘+’ in the top right corner of the Protect Dashboard, and select Evo Protect Edition.

Plug in camera, please wait for the status LED to turn solid blue, and select Continue.

For Android phones you may need to allow access to Bluetooth. Please press Yes.


From the next screen select your Y-cam Evo from the list.

On the next screen select your Wi-Fi network.

Enter the Wi-Fi network password and press OK. Please note that for the Y-cam Evo the network password cannot contain more than 19 characters, we advise should only contain letters and numbers.

Press OK to confirm that Wi-Fi Setup is complete.


Press Continue once the Status LED has gone green on the camera.

Name your Y-cam Evo, and select what your camera is for from the drop down. Then press Continue



10. Options

When you open the Y-cam app, then the first screen will bring you to the Protect

Dashboard, if you have our Y-cam Protect System installed, or to the Camera

Dashboard if you only have our cameras installed.

To access the Menu, you need to press the Options button, which is the three

horizontal bars in the top left of the screen.

When you press the Options button, the menu will appear.


10.1 Protect Dashboard

From the Protect Dashboard, you can control the Protect Alarm System.

The alarm status is at the top. Source indicates if the Protect Hub is on Mains or Battery powered. Mode indicates the status of the Protect System. This will be Armed, Home, or Disarmed. Connection will be Wired or SIM. SIM is only applicable if you have the Y-cam Plus Service.

The blue background indicates the state of the alarm. The open padlock when pressed Disarms the Alarm. The closed padlock when pressed Arms the Alarm. The Home button when pressed, put the Alarm into Home Mode. The Plus Actions Button will send an SMS message you have set, or turn your cameras on or off.


The ‘+’ button in the top right lets you add additional Sensors, Siren or Evo Protect Edition cameras.

The Activity Button will highlight the last 10 updates from the Alarm System. (This is a Y-cam Plus feature only)


10.2 Camera Dashboard

From the Camera Dashboard, you can: View live footage from the camera(s). Put the camera(s) into standby. Add further cameras.

Pressing the Play button will take you to the live footage from the camera. To view in full screen, turn the camera into landscape mode. Press the power button will put the camera into standby mode or bring the camera out of standby.

When you press the Play button, and you keep the camera in portrait mode, you will see the last 10 motion recordings from your camera. Pressing on these will play the stored video. Pressing the Settings button will take you to the settings button for the camera.


10.3 Activity

Activity will show you the last 7 days information. It will show you the number of video clips stored, and if you are a Y-cam Plus customer you will also see the activity for the Protect System. The Favourites tab will display video clips you have saved.

If you are a Y-cam Plus customer and you want to see the last 30 days, then press the Calendar button in the top right corner. You will then see the last 30 days, and a dot under a date indicates there are video clips and/or Protect events for that date.


Pressing the date, will take you to the Video Clips and/or event for that day. You can then view video clips by pressing the Play button.

Pressing the three dots on the side of the video will give you the option to: Add video clip to Favourites Download the video clip to your device Delete the video permanently.


10.4 Settings

The Settings menu is split into two sections. The top section is for the Protect Alarm System, and the bottom section is for your camera(s)

Selecting your Protect Hub, you will then be taken to the Alarm Settings. From here you can add further Remotes, Access Sensors and Motion Sensors. You can also delete the sensors and Siren if you wish to.


Selecting your Hub will take you to Hub Settings. From here you can: Change the name of the Hub, Set the Delay Interval Turn Tamper on or off Activate Sensor override. If you have the Y-cam Plus service you can: Set up your Phone Numbers Determine what the Plus Actions button does. Set Alarm contact to Phone Call Alerts, SMS or Off. Check the Signal Strength for SIM Back Up. General Settings lets you update the Time Zone, and check for a firmware upgrade. Finally you can also Delete the Hub from your account.

For Camera Settings, you select the camera, and then you can: Change the name of the camera. Turn Audio on or off. Change the Night Vision Setting. Turn Motion Recording on or off. Set up Location Recording. Change the Alert Notification Type. Change your Motion Zones. Change the Video Quality. Update your Wi-Fi Network. Change the Time Zone. Delete the camera.

10.7 Account Settings

From Account Settings you can: Update your name, and primary email address. Add additional email addresses to receive email notifications. Change your account password. Edit Payment Card details for Y-cam Plus. Purchase Y-cam Plus.
