This is a picture of a cruise ship that takes modern day tourists on trips up and down the river Nile.

5000 years ago, the river was the main means of transport from one place to another. The Ancient Egyptians rowed ferry boats across the Nile from one bank to the other and boats and barges constantly travelled its length transporting goods.
