WWF - Project Proposal

Project Proposal WWF From this project, I am looking forward to directing a group as I have only done this once before as well as seeing my initial concept turned into a stunning piece of animation I will be proud to show case on my final animation reel. I personally would like to undertake in the animating and creation of backgrounds as I feel that my environment work is less strong than my character animation and I wish to make the two more balanced ultimately improving my skills as an animator. I plan to challenge myself but creating the entire project with puppet animation in order to create a paper cut out story book feel. This will be a new concept for me however I am excited to achieve and believe that it will enhance the look of my final animation. Our aim is to create an illustrative and informative looking piece using puppet animation. We would like this animation to be emotive and thought provoking, making audiences aware of the current situation of sea turtles and their imminent extinction. The goal of our animation is to ultimately encourage them to donate to the charity of WWF. We aim to achieve this by collecting some first-hand research at the blue reef aquarium Portsmouth, for basic information on turtles as well as inspiration for environments, colour palettes and other marine inhabitants, moreover we have already watched several documentaries including; Life on Earth, Blue planet and BBC Natural World - A turtles guide to the pacific UN. These documentaries have given us an insight in to the lives of turtles and the struggles they face, therefore inspiring the key points we want to convey in our animation. We aim to create background layers in Photoshop in order to export them in to flash and after effects before animating the various layers to create depth. We plan to create the turtle

Project Proposal WWFFrom this project, I am looking forward to directing a group as I have only done this once before as well as seeing my initial concept turned into a stunning piece of animation I will be proud to show case on my final animation reel.

We plan to create the turtle parts in Photoshop so that their art style remains consistent with our environments.Additionally this will also enable us to parent the various components of the turtle characters in flash and after effects so that they can be animated in the childlike storybook style we wish to convey. Our challenge will be to accurately portray underwater environments through visual medium whilst maintaining a sense of realism in order to create an emotive atmosphere. Creating this atmosphere will be key in producing an emotive animation that will encourage viewers to donate. We aim to create a connection with our protagonist and the audience as our turtle struggles to survive. We plan to provoke our audience to feel sympathetic towards our turtles by creating them in puppet form as the illustrative storybook style characters are childlike and innocent in appearance. This will be a challenge for us as we have never done puppet animation in this style or worked together as a group, therefore we are unsure of how the group dynamic will work. However we understand each others strengths, share a similar art style and we connect professionally and socially.
