L. Carmichael, Sr., Senior Pastor and Overseer and First Lady, Dr. Rebecca Carmichael East Campus: Pastor Joshua Carmichael, 5271 EBC Village Way, Knightdale, NC 27545| West Campus: 4729 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27610 | 919-231-6418 God’s desire for every believer is to have the heart of a servant. To guide us, the Bible is full of examples of servants who submitted their lives to God first and then to others. Jesus, our greatest example, said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45) But even before Jesus made this declaration, it was his mother, Mary, who demonstrated the heart of a servant. In response to the angel who told Mary she would give birth to Jesus, Mary demonstrated servanthood when she said, “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Luke 1:38 God knew Mary had the heart of a servant and that He could trust her to be the mother of His Son who would one day offer himself in the greatest act of servanthood. God also knew the heart of the other Mary who served Jesus unto death and even went to the tomb where he laid to care for him. When God called both Mary, the mother of Jesus, and the other Mary, they answered. What will you do during the times God calls you to serve? To every woman, God is calling you to not only come into the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ, but to understand that, “ As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:” (1 Peter 4:10). God has strategically called you into a relationship with Him to build unity in your homes, workplaces, community and church through service. In doing so, you can share the good news of the gospel through evangelism. Mother’s Day should be a time of outreach. Why? For many people, Mother’s Day is a sad time of the year due to the loss of a loved one, sickness or unresolved issues that hinder the joy God intends for every woman. For this reason, I am challenging every woman of EBC to do three things: 1.Bring clothes to our Clothing Closet. We will have a clothing giveaway on May 9. 2.Bring non-perishable food items and toiletries to the EBC Food Pantry. 3.Bring at least three people to church in the month of May. As you ponder this challenge, I want you to look through the eyes of God and see yourself as a servant leader. But in your role as a servant leader remember that you cannot lead where you do not go and you cannot hear the voice of God if you do not prioritize Bible study, Sunday school, regular worship services, prayer and personal devotion. A close, focused walk with Christ will produce and nurture the heart of a servant. Woman of God, you are special (Psalm 139:14). Thank you to all the courageous women of Elevation. Happy Mother’s Day! Amazed by His Grace, Dr. T.L. Carmichael, Sr. Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusi- asm, and your love from us— I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving. (2 Corinthians 8:1-9.) GIVE You are invited to join the Elevation family on our jour- ney to continue the vision of evangelism while reducing debt.
