As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

WelcomeTo Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org. You can also visit our welcome desk in the Welcome Center, located directly behind the sanctuary.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available in the Narthex and in the Children’s Lobby. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-K through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Children in pre-K through second grade remain in their classrooms until they are picked up by a parent.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (room 160) located in the Ebenezer Building behind the sanctuary, and the Geneva Room is designated as a cry room for parents with fussy children. Both rooms are equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Please see ushers for additional overflow seating.

We are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

†The Call to Worship ................................................................................Psalm 63:1-5O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

The Confession of Faith ...............................................................The Apostles’ Creed

*Gloria Patri .................................................................................................. Mieneke

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.* The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ................................................... Ephesians 2:4-7But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Father and Creator, may your Spirit speak in me that I may speak to you. I am undeserving, but I look to your tender mercy. I am full of infirmities, wants, sins; you are full of grace. I confess my sin, my frequent sin, my willful sin; all my powers of body and soul are defiled: a fountain of pollution is deep within my nature. Help me in all my doings to put down sin and to humble pride. Save me from the love of the world and the pride of life, from everything that is natural to fallen man. Enable me to never lose sight of the glory of Christ. Amen. adapted from The Valley of Vision

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Offering

Open now my heart to seeThrough all this world’s charmPour into my soul againI am yours

Turn my eyes and give them sightTo look through darkened daysBreathe into my soul againYou guard and keep my name

Jesus, lover of my soulJesus, lover of my soul

You’re full of light and faithfulnessTrue in all your waysYou’re the bright and morning starGuiding all my days

On the outcast and the lost and the broken and distraughtFor the righteous and redeemed or the ones with shattered dreamsIn the eyes of the blind, in the hearts of those who weepJesus’ love is breaking through our soul’s healing truth

So we open ancient doors, see you riding on the stormYour footsteps in the sea as you meet us in our needLeaving heaven’s glorious throne, taking mortal flesh and boneLamb of God before all time, now on earth to bleed and die

And we, the blood-washed band, bow down in praise againJoining heaven’s song, “Worthy is the Lamb,Holy, Holy, Holy,Lord God Almighty

Help us bare our daily crossAs a light to the lostLooking forward to the dayWhen every tear is wiped away
