INTRODUCTION
•The UKM Sustainable Campus Program was launched in 2007 as a commitment towards achieving sustainable campus status in 2020
“Sustainable UKM for Malaysia and the Worlds”
The National University of Malaysia (UniversitiKebangsaan Malaysia-UKM) is committed to practice sustainable development in fully by
2020, towards its communities' well-being and ecosystem health as well as enhancing the
sustainability of its natural and built environments through management, research,
development and sustainable practices of communities inside and outside the campus
through the following principles
Sustainable UKM Charter
• Portray institutional practices that enhances campus sustainability
• Enhancing community well being and productivity
• Promoting campus ecosystem health
• Conducting environmental research and institutional development for sustainability
• Developing planning tools to support responsible decision making processes
• Implementing sustainable development indicators to continuously monitor, reports and improve sustainability practices
Sustainable UKM Charter Principles
Sustainable UKM objectives:
To conserve and manage campus water resources for quality and sufficiency
To manage energy usage efficiently and sustainably
To implement efficient solid waste management.
To create UKM identity in the sustainable building design
To develop sustainable and unique landscape identity
To enhance public transportation efficiency and accessibility
To improve the quality of life in campus
To enhance awareness among campus community on sustainable livelihood.
