Quick Glance on few terms:•Global Positioning System (GPS)GPS is a space based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather conditions anywhere on earth.

•General Packet Radio Service (GPRS )GPRS ia a packet oriented mobile data service on the 2G and 3G cellular communication system for mobile communication.GPRS provides data rates of 56-114kbit/second.

•2G2G or Second Generation provides data rates of 35-171 Kilobites per second KBPS speed.

•3GThe thrid generation uses a technology called as UMTS ( Universal Mobile Telecomuunication System) as its core network. It is so amazingly fast , Possible 3G speeds are 384Kbps to 2 Megabits (Mbps). There’s another brand of 3G called HPSA, that’s sometimes dubbed 3.5G, which boasts potential speeds of between 600Kbps and a whopping 10Mbps, although the average is 1-3Mbps .

Page 5: Working with smart phones & tablets by Wajid Rizwan Khalil

•4G4G is the current fastest data network.Depending on signal strenghts 4G can be often faster than using WiFi. 4G is based on WiMax or LTE system. Different 4G bands/spectrums: There are different bands of 4G, and it all gets quite complicated. 2.6GHz 4G is the fastest, followed by 1.8GHz and 800MHz. While 800MHz doesn’t boast the same data capacity as the faster 4G bands it is better at travelling over longer distances and also at penetrating walls so provides better signal when indoors

•5G5G is in development phase so far. 5G network (‘mmWave Mobile Technology’) with a potential top speed of 1 gigabit per second (1Gbps).
