How You Can Help Us Find A Cure

What is DMD ?

• Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a

degenerative muscular disease which affects

mostly young boys

• It has a 100% mortality rate

• There is no cure

• One in 3,500 are affected

• By age 10 most boys need walking braces

• By 12 most become confined to a wheelchair

• By 20… most will die

How We Began

• Save Our Sons was started in 2008 by Elie and

Nancy Eid when their son Emilio was

diagnosed with DMD

• Since then Save Our Sons has grown from one

man to a team of more than 14

• Our team enjoys the support of more than 50

high-profile Australian celebrities, some who

are our personal ambassadors

Our Goals• To raise enough money to fund a human

clinical trial with the hope of extending and eventually saving the lives of those affected by DMD

• To make life easier for families affected by DMD through the provision of funding for things like transport, mobility aids and medication

• To broaden awareness about DMD within the wider community and inspire people to donate and assist us in finding treatment options

About Work Place GivingWhat research has shown

The two top reasons people participate in Work Place Giving are:

• to make a difference• because their employer supports Corporate Matching

Research has also found that unlike volunteering, Work Place Giving has traditionally lacked the emotional component which inspires people to participate.

“With volunteering, you get fed, feted and made to feel like a hero. Workplace giving is something you do quietly. It lacks the feel–good factor ”

– member of staff.

Why We’re DifferentWe’ve done our research

Save Our Sons wants Work Place Giving to provide as much satisfaction to participants as possible.

We’ve done our research and know that a ‘set and forget’ program simply isn’t enough when it comes to Work Place Giving – people need more.

That’s why we have in place a specific program that allows our participants to feel they are:

• recognised• making a difference• well informed on how their money is being used

How We Do It

Our Specialised Program

Our program incorporates:• easy set up• tax benefits• quarterly newsletter• individual recognition in our Human Heroes

Club• automatic entry in our monthly Donate and

Win program

For Best Results We Also Advise:• nomination of a Work Place Ambassador• Corporate Matching• regular ‘fun’draising initiatives

Why Corporate Matching Is So ImportantCreating positive working relationships

A recent report shows more than 60% of participants cited Corporate Matching as the prime motivator for signing up to Work Place Giving programs

“What appealed to me is doubling the money. The charities I support through Work Place Giving get more, simply because I give through work”– member of staff

Reports show that by participating in a Corporate Matching program, employees feel their company is something to be proud of and are further engaged in the work place.

“You feel much better about your job when your organisation enables you to do something worthwhile in the community. There’s a sense of pride being involved ”– member of staff

What You Can Do• Workplace Giving allows you to make a tax

deductible donation on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis

• Just $5.00 per week makes a big difference when enough people are working together

• All you need to do is fill out a form once and everything else is taken care of

• The small amount will be deducted from your payroll, before tax, and directly allocated to Save Our Sons.

• This means a $20 monthly donation would really only cost you $14 with a tax saving of $6

What You Can AchieveHow A Little Can Go A Long Way

When 500 people donate $5 per week

the annual total is$130,000!

Should the company use the Corporate Matching Plan that

adds to up $260,000!

Rest AssuredWe use one of the world’s most highly regarded charity foundations
