ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WORK ORDER / TECHNICAL FOLLOW-UP
User’s Manual: AMASIS R9.32
MAO-OE Release: 1.0 Date: 8th January 2015
4/64
Introduction: Work order/Technical Follow-up The Work order or WO is an AMASIS document. Like any AMASIS document, its status changes according to the progress of some processes. Thus, once closed; the WO name turns to a ‘technical follow-up or TFU’ but remains the same document. The usual abbreviation of a work order or technical follow-up is WO/TFU. The work order is a document essential to Routine Maintenance module: it is used to record all the anomalies found, and it justifies the launching and performance of maintenance tasks linked or not to maintenance manual. It serves as job support to production service, and enables to trigger and record:
Performance of Log Book sequences or crew complaints
Performance of Additional and/or differed works declared during check
Performance of Service Bulletin, Airworthiness Directive, Technical Instruction … embodiment
Launching of equipment removal for life limit (Maintenance manual)
Repair of equipment in local repair workshops A WO has three purposes:
The first one is to be a document for launching or supporting embodiment of the
maintenance task mentioned in reference field (job card, equipment potential limit, SB embodiment on an A/C, etc.)
The second one is to be itself a maintenance task in some cases (e.g.: search/repair on aircraft, technical complaint further to flight).
The last one is to record a performance or intervention made by the maintenance technical personnel, which consists in introducing a text and if possible performed manhours.
A WO/TFU is linked to an aircraft (A/C) and/or rotable (P/N + S/N).
WO types There are six types of WOs: Type 1 TL Techlog The Runway or Maintenance Control Center for crew complaint (Log Book
sequences or crew complaint) and Hold Item List (or Acceptable Differed Defect).
Type 2 MC Maintenance Task The hangar controllers for additional and differed works found during check
(daily, weekly, transit, A check, C check…) and for performance of Out of Phase card not integrated into a Work Package.

Type 3 DOC SB/AD/CN Engineering and Planning Preparation Launching for performance of Service
Bulletin, Airworthiness Directive, Technical Instruction… Type 4 POT End of Potential The Planning Preparation Launching for preparation of Hard Time equipment
removal (chapter III of Maintenance Manual). Type 5 FS Follow-up sheet The workshop managers for managing repair of equipment in local workshop. Type 6 MIS Miscellaneous Any other service for managing all the WOs not corresponding to the previous
categories (to be avoided). WO subtypes WO subtypes are defined by AMASIS administrator. It is possible for a given type to define categories or subtypes. For each one he can define some characteristics such as:
- Taking into account in reliability calculations - Processed PIREPS or MAREPS in PIREPS/MAREPS computation rates. - Required default control level
Thus, for WOs of « TL or TECHLOG » type, the administrator can for instance define the following subtypes:
- « PI » (Pilot report) for a WO/TFU linked to TL with « Technical Crew » (cockpit crew) origin and considered as a PIREPS
- « MA » (Maintenance report) for a WO/TFU linked to TL, of « Line Maintenance » origin and considered as a MAREPS
- « CA » (Cabin report) for a TL/TFU linked to TL, of « Commercial crew » (cabin crew) origin and considered as MAREPS
For WOs of « End of potential » KX type, the user will be able to identify the various origins of equipment follow-up via the following subtypes already predefined in the system:
- 00 Kardex for LLP equipment followed on an H/T position (equipment installed on A/C).
- PN Part calendar for equipment followed in total calendar ageing (especially stored equipment)
- SHF Shelf time for equipment having reached a shelf time limit
This configuration allows having WOs/TFUs that will not be systematically taken into account in calculations of PIREPS / MAREPS rates.

Process: Work order / Technical follow-up Different scenarios:
Works performed on the runway during operation (further to TL or not). Works performed in hangar during a check Works performed on equipment in workshop Record of Works performed on an A/C or equipment by a ‘third’ company
Depending on the organization of your company, the different main steps are:
WO creation / generation Addition of information to WO WO printing (WO scheduling) Update of paper document by performers: remarks, signature… WO update using paper document information Introduction of corresponding manhours WO closing
Or Creation / Generation of WO Addition of WO information (WO scheduling) Update of WO by persons performing the job: remarks, performed job, signature … Introduction of manhours WO closing WO print-out
Or any other organization implemented by your company.

Involved services Depending on their activities, a great number of services are concerned by WOs/TFUs.
Concerning display, all the maintenance services (including Management) have to view
up WOs/TFUs. Depending on the company organization, various services create and generate WOs:
Technical Records (for type 1 WOs / TLs).
Launching.
Engineering (in particular for type 3 WOs / SB AD).
‘Equipment’ workshops (for type 5 WOs / FS).
Runway (for type 1 WOs / TLs and especially type 6 / operation WOs)
Concerning change, all the maintenance services performing technical interventions have to change WOs:
Change of ‘performed jobs’ text on the right part
Change of ‘manhours’ made by performers
Change of reference documents (indication of documentation used for troubleshooting or repair).
Addition of information in order to help maintenance teams: required P/Ns, accesses to be prepared, additional instructions in the text on the left …
Depending on company organization, WO closing can be made by:
Runway staff (in particular for operation WOs and type 2 WOs / of Out of Phase card or additional works).
Hangar staff (in particular Out of Phase WOs, AW and DW)
Technical records personnel (in particular for type 1 WOs / TLs and type 4 / life limit.
Engineering staff (especially for type 3 WOs / SB AD).
