Where our timber is sourced1825 interiors specialises in family-friendly furniture made from recycled pine shipping pallets, sourced from all over the world. Our Wood Design collection, however, is unique in that it is custom-made from recycled hardwood – mostly seasoned fence palings, but also roof trusses, wall frames and the occasional horse rail. Our environmentally conscious wood sourcing programme minimises the impact on our natural environment. This gives our Wood Design collection a genuinely rustic feel and a tick for being environmentally sound.

Each piece is lovingly hand-crafted in Australia, from Australian hardwood, with a choice of finishes to enhance the natural beauty of the timber and complement your décor. The original nail holes are still visible. The advantage of this collection is that all of the pieces are made to order from our standard selection – simply bring in your measurements for a quote.

The manufacturing processBecause each product in our Wood Design collection is handcrafted, no two pieces are exactly the same. It is normal to expect some colour variation and differences in the appearance of the grain, as well as the number and size of the knot holes. Every piece of recycled hardwood furniture has its own characteristics and will behave differently.

Natural characteristics of recycled hardwood

As our Wood Design products are all natural, it is perfectly normal for your new purchase to resemble any of the above images. Nail holes, timber knots, colour variation and timber block patches are common and not considered defects.

Maintaining recycled hardwood Wood Design furniture is not suitable for outdoor use unless the product is treated with an outdoor finish at the time of manufacture. Regularly monitor outdoor furniture for signs of colour loss, dryness and weathering and apply a fresh coat of outdoor oil every spring.

When positioning furniture in your home, do not place it in direct sunlight or close to heaters. Doing so can result in damage that is not covered by warranty. Do not use cleaners that contain ammonia, spirits or silicone. Test all cleaning products in an inconspicuous area first. 1825 interiors recommends using the following Howard products to nourish and enhance recycled hardwood furniture.

Howard Feed-N-Wax Feed-N-Wax is a special blend of beeswax, carnauba wax and orange oil. It enhances the natural beauty and depth of grain in finished and unfinished wood, highlighting its golden hues and leaving a protective coating. Used regularly, this product will help prevent drying, fading and cracking while preserving the timber finish. Not suitable for painted surfaces.

Howard Naturals Wood Conditioner Wood Conditioner is a unique blend of vegetable-derived oils, carnauba wax and beeswax. The natural waxes help provide added protection to both raw and varnished timber, enhancing its natural beauty and preventing drying and cracking. This clear, colourless wax will add a deep, rich finish to your furniture. Not suitable for painted surfaces.

Caring for painted finishesHoward Clean-A-Finish Clean-A-Finish effectively cleans all timber surfaces using a traditional blend of gentle yet powerful natural soaps. It easily removes dirt and build up from furniture and is recommended for painted surfaces. It is non-toxic and biodegradable and does not contain any harmful chemical cleaning agents. Apply a light spray onto a soft cloth, not directly onto the surface of the timber.Take care when using blue glass cleaners as they can stain painted finishes.

Warranty1825 interiors warrants that our recycled & restored hardwood furniture is free from manufacturing, structural or materials defects for 24 months from the date of delivery. More information can be found on our website or on the warranty card issued with the product at time of purchase.
