North Wheatland Township Homeowners Association NEIGHBOR NEWS4 Fall 2015

President’s PATTER

It is my goal to keep all home-owners up to date with what is happening in our Association. With the year passing so quickly it is hard to think that we are a couple of months past the NWTHA annual picnic.

We had a great day with weather and the many home-owners that took part received a picnic dinner, prizes, Children’s programs, general meeting and a rock climbing wall (which I climbed). I want to thank all volunteers and Board members for their help in putting on a wonderful and enjoyable picnic.

By now you realized how fast this year is going by, we are now working on our annual children’s Christmas party.

Thanks go to our past children’s social chair Sandy Zenda for finding the volunteers and with helping organize this successful program. New volunteers are HOA members Ashley Zinn and Carrie Sherman who have offered their time with organizing this year’s program. Every child receives a gift, and snacks with entertainment before Santa shows. If you have not been able to attend this children’s program before, please try and bring your children or any grand children and see how many of your neighbors have enjoyed this event.

On a new item this comes from your Board. We are in need of a new Treasurer, our treasurer Rick Peabody - who is a life member of NWTHA - has had to step down after serving many years as your Treasurer. Rick needed more family time and because of his work load had to step down. The Board and I want to thank Rick for all the years he has served the NWTHA and wish him continued successes. I am sure that you will see Rick at some of our upcoming events.

We have a new Board member who was voted in at our last meeting in October. Rahul Yadav has volunteered to work with our Board and we welcome him to your Board. There is always room for anyone who could help out with their time.

Sincerely,Ken HagenbaumerNWTHA Board President

Publisher’s GREETING

Fall has arrived. And we are officially ringing in the holiday season as well as being warned that both snow and the end of the year are inevitable. I person-ally love this time because it brings beautiful fall color, holidays with friends and family, and the leap from Fall sports to Winter sports.

In case none of these make you jump for joy, here are few facts about the season you may not know.

Both North and South Dakota became the 39th & 40th states of the United States.November is national Peanut Butter Lovers month. In December, Nobel Prizes are awarded.Parker Brothers introduced Monopoly in November. On December 3, 1967, the first heart transplant was completed.

If that doesn’t give you reason to celebrate the month, then please share with us your favorites of the month - it could be a favorite holiday food, football game or family adventure. We love to hear your story so feel free to share!

The summer issue left a few of you with questions as to what happened to the original, smaller format and the status of the directory. Well the format has changed - hopefully for the better - and the directory will contin-ue to be published. Rest assured that while the format is different, I am working very hard to bring you all the information that you are used to getting and need to stay informed. I am always open to feedback so please feel free to call or email me your ideas.

Thanks for reading!Sheryl Theisen, Publisher, hYperstrand Marketing Inc.

Welcome New Board MembersHello to all NWTHA members!

My name is Rahul Yadav and I am a fairly recent transplant to Naperville from Chi-cago. I had the pleasure of meeting many of you along with the rest of the board at the annual picnic this year. I enjoy meeting new people and finding ways to strengthen the local community in which we all live.

I have spent most of my professional life within the IT field and am currently working for a local tech startup. I look forward to working closely with the rest of my fel-low NWTHA board colleagues and using my professional skills and experience to add value to our organization.

Annual Picnic Wrap UpThe weather was great and plenty of amazing food was had by all. There were lots of prizes and games. As a re-sult, a great time was had by the many people and families who attended the annual NWTHA picnic – held again at DuPage River Park (on Royce Road) in September. See you next year!

In addition to the food, music and games, 50/50 pot was split between Domingo Rosales and the charity PADS who helps the Homeless on a year round basis!

Many thanks go to the NWTHA Board members, volun-teers and prize contributors who helped make it a great day. We especially want to thank Board member Peter Genualdi and his wife, Patricia, who coordinated all the delicious food again this year! More thanks go to NWTHA President Ken Hagenbaumer, who conducted the General Meeting.

From our Vice President Peter Genualdi and the NWTHA Board. Please patronize the following generous vendors whenever possible. That made our 2015 picnic possible and a success for our members!!

Community CONCERNS

Road, Traffic & Safety: The Wheatland Township High-way Department will be re pav-ing and improving drainage this spring on all the streets east of Book Road and north of 95th St. with the exception of Leverenz Road.

This work will not impact our tax-es as the Township is lending the Highway Department $500,000,

at zero interest, to complete the project in one year. This work should alleviate the standing water problem many of our members have had.

With winter almost here the Road District has a few re-minders to keep the roads and residents safe.

1. Do not park vehicles on the road. It is difficult for the plow drivers to maneuver around the parked vehicles2. Do not push snow into the road from the driveway.3. Move sump pumps out of the road. The ice formed

on the road is a safety hazard not only to the snow plow drivers but to all drivers using the road.4. Remind children not to play on the snowbanks in the road-right-of way. The drivers cannot see them. 5. Clear debris out of the culverts6. Priorities for snow plows are as follows:

A. Primary roadsB. Subdivision entrancesC. Subdivision roadsD. Cul-de-sacs

The Road District will be finalizing plans for paving and drainage projects in Wheatland North Subdivision. Cur-rently an engineering study is being done. More informa-tion on these projects will be available at a later date. The City of Naperville is working toward a resolution about the sidewalk on Book & Leverenz. This resolution should clear up the confusion as to where to cross the road.

See our Facebook page (Wheatland Township Road District) and Website: www.WheatlandTownship.com for future updates.

Neighbors Helping NEIGHBORSMany of you may have been upset with the over grown property at the corner of Book Rd. and Doug-las. The house is in foreclosure and the condition of the yard was a detraction and eyesore. The NWTHA asked the Township for help in getting the grass and weeds

cut down. The Township Board of Trustees have been very responsive to requests from our homeowners associations and within days had the problem solved. If any member has an issue they believe the township could be of help, contact a NWTHA board member for assistance.

Recycling in our townAs in past years, the Wheatland Township Highway Department will be picking up any post-holiday Christ-mas trees that are not gathered by your regular disposal companies – which should be taking them on your usual pick-up days. The Highway Department pick-up has not determined the dates as of yet so please check their web-site at www.WheatlandTownship.com or call their office for details 630-717-0092, ext. 3.

District 204 DATES & UPDATES: In the Indian Prairie District 204 community, there are many talented and entertaining students (all grade levels) who enjoy showcasing their talents during the holiday season. • The 19th Annual Crystal Concert will be performed at 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. at Neuqua Valley High School on Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 4. For more info, visit www.neuquamusic.org

• Metea Valley High School’s 7th Annual Collage Con-cert – is scheduled for both 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, and on Friday, December 4.

• Waubonsie Valley High School’s 24th Annual Prism Concert will be presented at both 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5.

NOTE: The free tickets to these concerts go fast!! So, if you’re a high-school student’s parent/friend/ neighbor, that student may be the best ticket source.
