CHANGES IN TRAINING METHODS

1. All the Conference Halls are connected with Director General-cum-Additional Chief Secretary’s Chamber with Close Circuit TV System along with 2-way Audio System. Hence, Director General-cum-ACS can see how the training is being conducted in the Conference Halls and can also hear the lectures of the Resource Persons even sitting in his room.

2. All the training programmes whether sponsored or Induction Training of IAS, IPS, IFS, IES, IES Probationers, are having compulsory library study classes on each training day (such classes are mandatory).

3. Importance is being given to interactive training rather than one way pedagogy.

4. Instead of having continuous three days training programmes (sponsored programmes) it has been decided to break them up to two parts. First part for two days and then second part for one day which would be taken up after one or two months as an interactive session to take feedback from trainees as to how far they have been able to implement the training knowledge acquired. This has been done in line with training procedure in Cambridge University, U.K.

5. To avoid frequent repetition of Resource Persons (and not so knowledgeable ones) a Data Bank has been prepared having the names of the Resource Persons theme-wise, and Course Directors of the Academy have been instructed to pick up the Resource Persons from the list only. However, it has also been decided that the Resource Persons from outside the list, can also invited subject to approval of Vetting Committee and Director General-cum-Additional Chief Secretary.

6. Academy’s library has been equipped with books almost on all the topics and study centres have been planned in the hostels with the supply of newspapers, periodicals and books on training subjects.

7. Training Halls have been equipped with modern equipments for facilitating delivery of quality training.

8. Yoga classes have been introduced in the training schedules for IAS and OAS Probationers.

The list is unending. One can have a look at this Academy to observe the

changes leading the Academy towards a centre of excellence.

CHANGES IN THE AMBIANCE

1. There is a face lift for the Academy and the buildings and the hostels of the Academy are repaired and improved to introduce positive stimuli for the Probationers / Trainees.

2. The Academy is replete with the grandeur of the rich heritage of art, culture and sculpture of Odisha.

3. Hostels are equipped with all possible indoor games like Billiards, Table Tennis and Gym; and the common rooms have been fixed with good Television sets and Music Systems.

4. Quality food is being served and care has been taken to keep the campus clean and green.

5. Steps have also been taken to repair the existing tennis and badminton courts. Steps have been taken and budget provision has been made for the year 2017-18 for construction of a good Library building and a National Level Auditorium.

6. Probationers are sent for Mini Odisha Darshan (to different places of Odisha) to be acquainted with the zeitgeist, art, culture and people of Odisha.

7. Festival and days like Republic Day, Independence Day, etc. are organised and celebrated in the Academy to instil the sense of patriotism in the minds of probationers and trainees.

8. Steps have been taken to adequately illuminate the campus.

9. Two new Conference Halls are also becoming ready for training purposes.

INTRODUCTION OF HI-TECH FOR IMPROVING

THE QUALITY OF TRAINING

1. Video Conferencing System is being introduced in the Academy for improving the quality of training.

2. Wi-Fi System of the campus (in the 1st Phase Main Office Building and Two Hostels) has been taken up and will start operating shortly.

3. To improve the quality of office business, e-Office procedure is being introduced in the Academy.

4. Steps are being taken to achieve the status of Centre of Excellence and to obtain ISO-9001 Certificate.

5. The help of e-Consultant is being taken to further improve the quality of training and to have distant training system even with the foreign Universities through on-line system.

6. Any other thing that is good for training and technologically up-to-date are being introduced in the Academy for the benefit of probationers and trainees.

And in this endeavour Sky has been kept as the limit.
