SPOTLIGHT ON…..CARLISLE HIGH SCHOOL Career Technical Education team opens the new
Family & Consumer Science Classroom & Lab CHS is proud to open the new FCS classroom and lab learning spaces earlier this week. Students are excit-ed to move into the new “Wildcat Activities Center” where classes such as: Introduction to Family & Con-sumer Science, Child Development, Principles of Hu-man Services, Housing & Interior Design, Culinary Arts, and Food & Nutrition will all take place. As you can see in the pictures, this is a state of the art facility that all Carlisle Community School District students will get to utilize for years to come. The WAC is scheduled to open in November and will be home to our new Varsity gymnasium, weight room, wrestling room and C Store (Wildcat apparel).

The Carlisle Activities Department is looking for student workers for the new retail C Store in the Wildcat Activities Center. Please see Mr. Schreck or Mrs. Born for more information. Hiring will begin soon!

Pro-ceeds will help fund Choir, Band, Drama and Color Guard. Department: Carlisle Police Department Date: October 2019 Position: School Crossing Guard Type: Part-time Reports to: Chief of Police FSLA Classification: Non-exempt (hourly) Deadline: Open Until Filled Salary: $10.00-12.00/ hour
DEFINITION Provide the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and School crossing guards are not to engage in traffic direction or control. This position is expected to work
Carlisle Community School District is in session. School sessions are typically August through June. work hours are in the morning and afternoon, Monday through Friday, at an assigned intersection approxi-mately one (1) hour. The hours are typically from 7:15 AM- 8:15 AM and 2:45 PM- 3:45 PM. will vary on late start/early
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists children on their way to and from school to safely cross roadways and intersections and gaps in traffic, utilizing traffic
• Lead children across roadways or intersections while holding a “stop” sign and wearing a colored vest in such a manner as to be visible to approaching
• Assures that the City’s mission, goals and objectives are fully supported and
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as
EDUCATION/
Must be at least 18 years of age.
SKILLS
• The ability to follow oral and written instructions. • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with children, parents, police officers and the general public.
• Must have good judgement and reasoning ability to avoid subjecting children to dangerous traffic
conditions. • Ability to provide own transportation to/from crossing location assigned to. • Valid Iowa ID or Iowa Driver’s License
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Works is preformed outdoors and is subject to constant standing, walking, inclement weather conditions and traffic hazards.
• Must be able to see and hear sufficiently to identify safety hazards.
OTHER REQUIRMENTS
Must pass a post offer pre-employment physical, criminal background check and drug test as deemed necessary by the Carlisle Police Department.

TRIVIA NIGHT NOVEMBER 15
The Empowering Carlisle Com-munity Schools Foundation (ECCSF) will be hosting their annual Wildcat Wars Trivia Night at Summerset Winery on Friday, November 15 from 6:00—9:00 p.m.
The ECCSF is a non-profit organization that provides grants to teachers for edu-cational programs and materials that are beyond the scope of the school’s reg-ular funding limits. Our motto is “Help Teachers, Help Students”. This past year we were able to fund over $5,700 worth of grants to Carlisle teachers! Please join us for a night of friendly competition, great food and drink, and a chance to bid on fantastic silent auction prizes.
CHS Fall Play—Number the Stars The High School Fall Play Number the Stars will be on Novem-ber 8 and 9 at 7:00 pm in the Carlisle High School Auditorium. It is a heartwarming and thought-provoking story of a family dur-ing World War 2 in Denmark. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased online at seatyourself.biz/carlisle.
