Welcome to OSCAR
We’re a family business that started
life making good honest pet food for
working dogs and supermarkets. It
was a fantastic start with formulations
for Sainsbury’s and Linda McCartney.
However, we found that customers
had little guidance on what to feed
their pets. Choosing the right food was
a minefield and the level of service
seemed non-existent. Getting it right
was so important because, just like
humans, pets 'are what they eat'.
We have always believed that when it
comes to nutrition it's too important to
settle for second best. In 1993, we
took matters into our own hands and
the first OSCAR franchise was
established. The Complete Pet Care
Service was born and since then
OSCAR has kept a firm focus on the
developments in pet food
manufacturing, while devoting time to
its growing franchise network.

My experience prior to OSCAR was twenty-nine years in the catering business. Although redundancy forced achange, I had lost heart in the industry for a number of reasons. At the age of 46 I decided to look at franchising andhad considered three other operations prior to seeing an article in the Daily Mail that promoted OSCAR.
After a great deal of research, I attended a discovery meeting and was impressed with the concept of home deliveryand quality foods.
My area is semi rural with 90% of my customers living within a four-mile radius of my home; this helps working fulltime as a sole trader. Under strict management for the first couple of years it is possible to tailor your business to suityour time. The added bonus is that I have met some very nice people, some of whom have become good friends.What a great way to earn a living!

My voluntary work for Greyhound rescue set the scene for my future, although working on the front desk at the localpolice station taught me all I needed to know about dealing with people. I wanted to bring a better balance to my life,and having five dogs, all in need of love and attention, led me to OSCAR and the idea of working for myself.
Searching the web site strengthened my desire to become self-employed and by learning from other people’sexperiences confirmed that it was now time to be my own boss. OSCAR’S quality products helped make up mymind and I intend to involve my family of pets to promote the business, especially when it comes to displaying primeexamples of a good diet.
