organizations that have hired you
– Diversify your skill set through the work you are assigned

Organization as a Consultant:

• Dress Appropriately even if the client dresses more casually , and demonstrate good manners;
• Maintain strict confidentiality; the client has selected you because they trust you so don’t prove them wrong;
• Assume Nothing and ask good questions;
• Work with the client and build strong relationships with and within the client, you want to find your cheerleaders;

Do’s• Maintain the proper perspective as a consultant and be respectful of the
Client’s Wishes;
• Look for additional ways to improve the Client’s business;
• Demonstrate a “Can Do” attitude;
• Over-deliver; and
• Make the client a success – your success and pride should come from helping the Client be successful in meeting their objectives and goals, not vice versa
Do’s & Don’ts of Consulting

Don’tsCertain actions/behaviors that a Consultant should not commit and if one did,
they would certainly be asked off their assignment earlier than expected. Stay away from the following:
• Don’t assume that you know it all, yet don’t be needy either;
• Don’t be arrogant and don’t argue with the client or tell the client their ideas are wrong;
• Don’t just not show up – if you must be absent, notify client;
• Don’t abuse time and expenses; and
• Don’t comment on/discuss sensitive topics, such as religion, politics, race, gender, ethnicity, personal finances, geography, any physical characteristics, etc.

Experis | Wednesday, April 12, 2023 12
Why the focus on resumes?• You need a GREAT resume
• First impressions count
– You only have 10-20 seconds to impress
• Resumes are typically first sent through scanning software programs instead of being reviewed by people
• When the resume reaches a person, they don’t read it. They skim it.
• Technology impacts
everything!
– Online applications
– Emailing resumes
– Social media
• Overused words are
OUT
• Results are IN
• Personal branding is
crucial
